That's an interesting approach, I would add that the resource box is just as important as the main article.
Something people often overlook is having a phrase or sentence in the final paragraph of the article which drives your reader to the resource box.
Even something simple like:' ...Click the links below for your free report' as the very final sentence.
Once the reader sees the resource box, the very FIRST thing they should see is a blue link. (also, the longer that link is the better, the color draw's the eye, more blue = more clicks - try it, but don't go overboard)
You want them so pumped from reading your article that they are ready to click, not read another paragraph.
Follow that link with a simple call to action like "Click here for your free weight loss report"
Lastly, if you are selling an affiliate product and cannot think of a catchy enough phrase for your resource box, use the headline of the product - someone took a lot of time coming up with that so it's obviously going to be of value.
