That's an interesting approach, I would add that the resource box is just as important as the main article.

Something people often overlook is having a phrase or sentence in the final paragraph of the article which drives your reader to the resource box.

Even something simple like:' ...Click the links below for your free report' as the very final sentence.

Once the reader sees the resource box, the very FIRST thing they should see is a blue link. (also, the longer that link is the better, the color draw's the eye, more blue = more clicks - try it, but don't go overboard)

You want them so pumped from reading your article that they are ready to click, not read another paragraph.

Follow that link with a simple call to action like "Click here for your free weight loss report"

Lastly, if you are selling an affiliate product and cannot think of a catchy enough phrase for your resource box, use the headline of the product - someone took a lot of time coming up with that so it's obviously going to be of value.

ps. As for promotion, twitter works great and is easy to use with Ezine.

I agree with those comments - directing paid advertising to your Ezine article comes across as being a bit 'gray hat'.

It may not get your account suspended but if Ezine pick it up your post will be removed from the most viewed category and so have been a waste of time, and money.

I don't like to see phrases bolded in articles. It drives me crazy LOL I would much rather write articles and let the SE's pick them up naturally without doing all that crazy stuff.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't see why EZA would have any objection to your driving traffic to your article with advertising. A page view is a page view whether the viewer comes from search or an ad. Am I right or does something need to be clarified here?

I can't imagine an article like that would get picked up and reprinted by many other websites. One primary goal of article marketing is to have your articles reproduced on quality sites. An article that's formatted and reads like a sales page would likely get ignored by those looking for quality content for their sites/blogs/ezines.

I have been reading through this strand and just had to put my two cents worth in.

I guess what really bothers me most is the "cheating" part. (Must be the teacher coming out in me, we tend to cringe and have the hair stand on the back of our necks when we hear the word or are suspicious of it.)

The point is why cheat in the first place? If you are delivering good quality content that is formatted well in your article, (which includes using bolded phrases in appropriate placement) and a well targeted headline you should be picking up traffic for the article you are producing.

Ezine has specific guidelines for authors to follow. Following the suggestions made by Ezine will not only ensure that your articles will be accepted but will also increase your chances of moving into platinum status more quickly.

The editors and staff at this site are not unreasonable people, just observant. They are also very aware of those who try to circumvent what is expected of the authors. Ezine too has a reputation of which to uphold and want to make sure that those submitting are offering the readers articles that have substance.

They are also very generous in giving tips and tutorials in how to better promote your articles as well as how to generate more traffic to your website.

It is my opinion that if you just go along with what is asked of you by the editorial staff you should begin to see some success. I say this because even though I am fairly new to all of this; my articles have been well received and my status with that site moved rather quickly simply because I followed their guidelines.

Ok, I am off my soapbox now. Sorry for such a long post, I just had to get this off my chest.

My sentiments exactly. Christine, I have to admit, my initial reply to this thread was pretty much the same as yours - actually, even more critical.

However, after taking a moment to calm down and gather my thoughts, I went back and edited my comments, as not to come across too harshly. But like I said, I agree with you 100%.

I have been thinking about what you said David. I did not intend to sound critical of what the original post stated. I did not want to sound harsh. If I have offended Cian or anyone reading this I do apologize.

What I was offering was my opinion, and like they say; everyone has one. I believe that constructive criticism helps one to learn and grow and not make the same mistakes again; while being "critical" towards someone just puts them on the defense and then not much of anything gets accomplished.

So maybe,again in my opinion, Cian didn't choose the best word by using "cheat" to get his point across. I think that the purpose for his post was to offer a different way to promote your article/site. This was his opinion. It is up to each individual to decide if this is the approach that you would like to take or not.

That is the beauty of this forum, we all get to speak our minds and I feel blessed for being given the opportunity to do so. Take what I have to say with a grain of salt and form your own opinions. I am grateful that I am able to speak mine.
