    Default Wordpress Plugin 'continue reading'

    When I try to insert the 'more' tag in my blog posts it won't work. Is there a plugin I can download to do this? I want to shorten some very long posts - getting a headache trying to find the solution

    Thanks!

    Have you tried inserting the code instead of using the "more" button on the input window? The code is
    <!--more-->

    Regina,

    I just got on here (the Board) and just saw your post so I don't know if you've found the answer elsewhere or not.

    If "not", I suggest that you go to the WP blogging social group forum down below here somewhere and ask it. Or, send Traci Knoppe a PM, if that feature is working now. If it's not, Skype her. I'll bet she can help you.

    Mmmmm - what version of WordPress are you using Regina? Is this something that just started - meaning were you able to use the More tag before, and it just started not working? What theme are you using?

    I'm getting offline for the evening, but I'll see if I can't help you tomorrow after I get your replies.

    Regina,

    If you're having problems with the more tag, it is better to find out why rather than to use a plugin because it's a core feature of Wordpress. And if that doesn't work, there may be something wrong with the Wordpress installation.

    Answering Traci's question would help in determining the cause.

    Hi Traci,

    WP version - good question, LOL! Not sure, I haven't updated to 2.8.2

    This is a new site and my first time attempting to use the more tag. The theme is Church WordPress Theme by Studio Press.

    Thanks

    Make sure you are in the HTML view when you insert the <!--more--> tag. I know when you're a new user it's easy to forget to switch.
