Exclamation Help with Marketing stratigies for new social network

I need a lot of help with getting the word out about a new social networking site that's about to take off. No, I currently don't have much exposure to a huge list of contacts. I recently signed up for twitter and myspace so I don't have a massive contact base set-up already. Facebook and linkedin are two more sites that will have invite information linked to this new network, I have not yet joined either. I am grateful to hear any comments or suggestions!

Write a press release, and get worldwide distribution through press release services like PRWeb. Also, write articles and submit them to top article directories like EzineArticles. And let's not forget Twitter and small business forums like this one. And then there's ezine advertising, pay-per-click, text ads. Also, offline magazines and newspapers. I could go on and on and on, but those are good places to start.

I agree, great methods for getting it off the ground.

Also consider your target market, or your ideal member for this new social networking group. Who are they, where do they hang out online, where do they hang out offline? Look at ways you can reach them where they are.

Thanks, Lynn! You also made a great point about reaching your target audience where they hang out.

Webwire is an excellent resource for posting media releases. There is a small charge but well worth it.

I agree with all that has been recommended; articles, twitter, FB, etc.

Blogging is beneficial and make sure you have a easy method for folks to retweet your blog posting.
