Default Why Have Some Internet Marketers Gone Into Psychology?

Rich Schefren launched GPS, which focused on professor Eliyahu Goldratt's work on the theory of constraints.

Tony Robbins, who has really always been in the self-help segment of psychology, enters the IM space with a series of interview products.

Now, John Reese has decided to launch Money Mindset - a 4-week course on having the right mindset so you can achieve success.

Will more IM gurus migrate more into the self-help genre? It's certainly a MUCH bigger space with tremendous profit potential. After all, there is a SELF-HELP section in every bookstore, but I've not yet seen a section called INTERNET MARKETING.

    Your thoughts?

Mind set does play a big role in any business. I struggle with it everyday. I loved hearing Andy Jenkins speak about mind set on his interview with Lynn. I'm on my third listen of that call. It comes down to a decision to change your mind and I also find it helpful to have an accountability partner to keep you on track as for as thinking right. You have to choose who & what you listen to each day. That is what is SO great about this forum, which seems to be getting better each day. It helps to be around like minded people and people that can keep one another on track. Help pick each other up when were down or distracted. People like Traci, Nicole, Lynn, Mason, Scott, etc. are an inspiration to hear from and read the threads they are posting. This forum has been better for me than some mind set courses I have gone through.

The reason I named my blog, The Marketing Mindset is because mindset has so much to do with one's success.

One way to look at it all is: You Are What You Think, be it good-bad, rich-poor, handsome-ugly, etc. Our minds have a way of controlling what and who we are along with how we do anything.

One of the biggest obstacles we have is filtering out all the different values we learned as we grew up and what we value now. Our values change as we age. And everything influences what we value and what we do.

Perhaps because there's less disclaimer & risk involved...

I love the mindset classes. I sure have taken a lot of them as evidenced by my About me page.

I like Lynn's reason and with the economy the way it is, more people are probably interested in mind set than IM.

The main reason so many marketers are going into psychology is the same reason there are so many books of that sort in the bookstore-- there's a huge and lucrative market for it. It's one of those areas in which a certain market segment will buy repeat products to get each different guru's take on the topic. There seem to be many niches like that-- the weight loss and stock market niches come to mind. There's a perpetual market willing to buy hardbacks, paperbacks, ebooks and whatever if it seems to satisfy their need.

    Mind set for success

Stubborn enough to not give up,

    Stupid enough to keep believing,

    Strength enough to keep believing,

Enough Ego to succeed so you can send a post card to the office to say

"Having a great time glad I am not with you"

The #1 reason is money. There's big money to be made selling self-help products. And while I do believe the vast majority of big name marketers have a genuine desire to help their customers achieve success, they also know that less than 10% of their customers will actually use the products they purchase.

This a hardly a secret. Industry insiders have known for decades that over 90% of people who purchase self-help products never actually use them.

    And the beat goes on...
