Hoping that I'm understanding you, About is a page which is easy to create go to Pages in your admin area click Add New, create a title and then type in whatever info you desire as public knowledge about you, click save and you should now have a About page
Thanks Robert - I understand about adding a Page. It was the title or word "About" at the top of the blog that I deleted. I wanted to keep the About page link there (at the top). Maybe it does not matter and I'm making a mountain out of a molehill???
From what I understand, you've deleted the "About" link from some sort of menu that is on top of your pages. Is that, right? Different themes have different ways of adding this back to the menu.
Some through widgets and some you will have to look at the theme code.
Do you have a link to this site so we can have a look?
Bina Omar you are exactly right - that is what I meant. The theme is Meadowland 1.2 by WpCosmos in the WP theme directory. Is this the info you need to take a look? Sorry if I am not being more helpful. Do you need the URL for my blog? There are no posts or pages there yet. Thanks so much for any help!
I think you should first go into your manage pages section and check if the About page still exists. Under "Pages" on the menu in the admin there should be a link; "edit" click on that and it will show which pages already exist. if the page does exist then it's a theme problem.
My guess is, having played with WP themes quite a bit myself, that you deleted the php code to fetch pages in your header file. So check the header file first is my recommend at this point for the navigation tag. it should look something like this; <?php dp_list_pages(); ?>
Another option is to delete and reinstall the theme, this would be much easier. We don't mind looking at a blog with no posts so go ahead a post a link if you'd like.
Wordpress only shows posts and pages that exist, so if there is no about page created yet it won't show anything in the menu (if you deleted the default page)
I looked at the Meadowland 1.2 Theme and I will for now stick with my original answer. It seems to be the usual About page which is about you personally though of course if you care to include what you hope to do with the blog, that's okay too(just keep it brief and to the point)
Carex, did you get 404 errors when you click About. I would suggest contacting the developer of Meadowland as I am getting 404 errors when I click About. Just for the record I have activated the meadowland Theme on my WAMP server( a way of being able to play with themes without having to use FTP or get a web host). Everything else I tried works expect for About. Maybe The developer left out something.
