Thread: On tweeting and twittering

    Default On tweeting and twittering

I've downloaded the Tweetdeck. I've got twitter installed on my blog (according to Michael, thank you!) and I've got my twitter account @jkgourmet.

Some folks are already following me, both people I know (mostly from this site) and others who seem to just attach themselves to everyone that they can find. I don't even know how they found ME.

I'm trying to understand how I tweet up a post that I did in my blog. Can I only tweet to those that are following me? Or can it go out the everybody in the world, too?

I feel very old with this tweeting stuff. . .

Now I'm going back to Tweetdeck and see what actually installed itself on my computer.

Only people that follow you can see your tweets in their tweet stream. Tweets do get indexed by google so if you use keywords, it could show up on a Google search.

Search Plug ins on your blog for (twitter or tweet blog post) and I am sure there is one that will tweet you blog post for you.

I just go to the page copy the URL go to bit.ly and get a bit.ly shortened link and then write a custom tweet with the link.

    Jeanette,

A friend of mine uses a program by the name of Twitterfeed that notifies followers on Twitter of every post he makes on his blog automatically. Could that be a solution for you? I believe it is free!

    Good day to you! Chris

Hey Chris, when I got your email notice of post,
I remembered that ping.fm will integrate all your social media sites including blog posts to twitter and facebook.

I used the facebook auto post feature to auto post my blog to facebook.

Most people search by keywords to find someone new & interesting to follow. The keywords in your bio will attract people: gourmet food, wine, kitchen - or even your location.

I prefer to tweet my blog posts manually, but I see that a lot of people automate that.

    Jeanette,
Welcome to Twitter! I really like Tweetdeck.

You don't have to follow everyone who follows you. Just follow the people you feel you connect with personally or business wise. There are so many people that follow me where I just roll my eyes LOL

I don't do auto tweets either so when I want to share a blog post, I just type in something like the title and ask for comments and provide the link to my blog post. Kind of like I did when I tweeted you. And everyone who is following you will see it.

Okay, how does one tweet non-followers?

Or the question might be more properly phrased, how does one create followers? (besides the graphic on my website)

You can tweet anyone on Twitter just by putting their @username at the beginning (or anywhere in) your Tweet. So even if you weren't following me or me you, you could Tweet this: @LynnTerry Hi Lynn, enjoyed reading your blog today .

That would probably make me follow you, by the way. Actually that's how I found & followed you - when you tweeted to me a few days ago.

You can find people and people can find you by keyword searches. To grow your following, search your own keywords and start following the people in your niche. Then get involved in the discussions.
