Thread: Commission Junction TOS question

  1. #1

    Default Commission Junction TOS question

I have not joined CJ.com yet because I was reading through the TOS (yes, I do read the Terms of Service on websites LOL) and here is a part I'm not sure I understand

    Quoted from CJ.com's TOS

    (f) Dormant Accounts. If Publisher's Account has not been credited with a valid, compensable Transaction that has not been Charged-back during any rolling, six consecutive calendar month period (“Dormant Account”), a dormant account fee at CJ's then-current rate shall be applied to Publisher's Account each calendar month that Publisher's Account remains an open yet Dormant Account or until Your Account balance reaches a zero balance, at which time the Account shall become deactivated. Transactions will not be counted if the Transaction subsequently becomes a Charge-back.
Does this mean that if you do not make any sales within a 6 month period you will owe CJ money? Sounds a bit crazy and I could be way off base. Can anyone interpret this for me? Thanks!

Hi Angie - yes, that is what it means! -- I had not read the TOS - and I really had not had time to promote anything - where does the time go? - but I guess I am about to be deactivated...

Subject: Commission Junction - Save your account from deactivation

    Dear Diana Walker,

You are receiving this email because your Commission Junction publisher account has not generated any valid commissions during the last five months. Commission Junction is committed to maintaining a dynamic and productive marketplace. Consequently, per the Publisher Service Agreement, we regularly deactivate accounts that are not actively earning commissions and do not have a sufficient balance amount. Your account has been deemed inactive and is scheduled for deactivation in the next 30 days for dormancy. Please note that while your account is deactivated, you will not track or earn commissions and your advertiser relationships may expire.

If you no longer wish to keep this account active, simply disregard this email and your account will be deactivated in 30 days. If you wish to continue using this account, there are three ways to accomplish this:

Generate a commission before your account is deactivated. Deactivation will occur 30 days from date of this notice.

If you are unable to generate a commission before your account is deactivated, simply log in to your account within 180 days of deactivation and follow the prompts for reactivation. This will reactivate the account with no consequences other than a loss of tracking between deactivation and reactivation and potentially expired relationships with advertisers.

If you are unable to reactivate your account online, you can call Commission Junction Client Support and request that your account be reactivated. You can contact us at 1-800-761-1072. We are available from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm PST, Monday through Friday, excluding company holidays.

If you'd like some information on strategies and tips for earning commissions, simply log in to the CJ Account Manager within the next 30 days and click on the CJU Online link for helpful resources.

If you have any questions at any time, please call us at the number above or email us using the Contact Us link in your CJ Account Manager.

    Regards,
    Commission Junction Client Support

Angie -- Oh, I mean that it means that you can't have a dormant account - not that they will charge me money, though. (I just re-read your question) Diana

Very good! That is extremely helpful, Diana! Thank you so much.

I didn't want to be negative and say I wouldn't get any commissions because I surely plan to but I wasn't sure if I was going to be charged some silly fee in the event there were no sales.

I think that email from CJ answers my question!
