How come some sites have a thumbnail picture on searches?

Apart from image and wideo results, it only seems to be the first listed site that gets an thumnail, and this is pulled from an image off that page. So you need to rank well and have an image in your page.

Jeanette, make sure you have alt tags on all your pictures. I am pretty sure the alt tags of those pictures that come up match the phrase you searched for.
