Hey Victor, Welcome to the forum

I'm not sure whether you can put opt-in forms on Squidoo or Hub Pages - maybe someone else here who uses them can comment on that. My advice would be to set up a site or blog of your own. The investment is only $10 to start and $10/month. The domain being the $10 to start, and hosting is less than $10/month - if you use HostGator and the coupon code "wordpress" (without quotes) you'll get your first month for a penny.

Then you can use the Squidoo & Hub Pages to create relevant inbound links to your new site/blog, funnel the traffic there, and eventually have your own high-ranking property.

    Hi Victor,

I use Squidoo and hubpages a lot as feeder sites (to get links to my "Money" site / "Authority" site). I do not use them as my main "Money" sites. Lynn is giving you great advice to create your own main authority site using a self hosted wordpress blog/site.

I have hundreds of self hosted wordpress sites and they rank amazingly well. I would recommend 2 MUST HAVE plugins:

    All-in-one-SEO - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/...-one-seo-pack/

    XML Sitemap - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/...map-generator/

There are many plugins but if you are just getting started these are 2 you must use.

Also make sure you change the permalinks before you add content. I like to make the permalinks just have the post name.

If you are new to wordpress there are many great free wordpress tutorials on www.youtube.com and at www.wordpress.tv

As for adding lead capture to Squidoo and Hubpages...yes I have added to Squidoo, NO I would not add to Hubpages. I have to warn you that Hubpages has very strong spam filters so do not make your Hubpage look too promotional...make it full of great content and limit your links to about only 2. Same with Squidoo...they are cracking down on promotional lenses so be careful and limit your links to just a few. I would recommend making your images click-able though.

Remember to promote your promoters and get links to your new lenses and hubpages from other sites, articles, etc. Join related Squidoo groups and ask for reviews of your lenses so you can add a live link in the group.

    Best,

    Martin

    Martin,

I have to disagree, Squidoo isn't cracking donw on promotional lenses at all. They are cracking down on badly written, spammy lenses on over hyped, over used regenerated topics.

I use squidoo a LOT for a lot of different things, including money pages, and I do quite well. My promotional pages get traffic and make money. It really just depends on what you're promoting, and how you promote it.

If you're promoting weight loss stuff, or how to get your ex back, well then yeah, Squidoo is cracking down.

    Jackie,

I was stressing "overly promotional & salesy" lenses and certainly the subject matter has a lot to do with it also. That's why I told Victor to add lots of good, helpful content and limit the outgoing links.

Also, it's best to link off to your main blog or websites and not include direct affiliate links.

I'm not saying that your lens will get filtered I'm just trying to save Victor time and give him the best chances to get his lenses approved.

I am teaching a course now on using web 2 properties for generating links and high rankings. My students have created thousands of lenses and hubpages so I am just telling what our findings are now for brand NEW lenses & hubpages. Wetpaint.com and weebly.com are more lax so you can try those.

Also, I think it's better to own your money pages so no one can shut them down on a whim. Once you put all that effort into building and promoting a money making site you should have full control over it.

    Best,

    Martin

Right on. Most of my readers are very very beginners, so they are learning the ropes on Squidoo and don't have a blog of their own quite yet. I think Squidoo is a fantastic place to learn basic SEO, and get your feet wet.

I agree if you have your own property it's better to use squidoo for building links, but if you don't, it can still be a great place to make some money so you can reinvest in your business.
