I hate trying to figure these things out and make sense of them... I don't really understand it that well, but from what I've what I've read it means I'll make more money with eBay's affiliate program, so I'm not going to complain.
I read their announcements and their FAQ, I just don't get it really. It's like look at the formula to calculate Adsense, and I don't get that either. I'm just happy when money lands in my bank account.
Anyone know how to explain this pricing structure without making my head spin off?
Loretta, I can't really explain it either, but let me just say that my eBay income quadrupled in October, as opposed to previous months with the new click pricing: I didn't do anything different, just made more money.
I wish I could explain it better for you, too. Alas, all I can say is that there are a ton of ebay affiliates who are upset with the new pricing structure. And it has many of them going to other affiliates like Amazon.
Basically, you no longer get a percentage of the sale price like you used to. It has to do with the quality of traffic you send ebay. That sparks the question in many people's mind, "Why does ebay care as long as a sale is made?" Makes one suspicious as to the real reason for the change. Was it really about quality or did ebay just want to hold back some of the money they were making on each sale?
The world may never know, but I have to wonder if they regret making their decision so late in the year with the biggest shopping season. A lot of people out there were sending huge amounts of collective traffic to ebay.
Adriana: I think you're one of the few (at least that I've heard of) who have actually benefited from QPC. Wow, that's awesome -- quadrupled!
See when I read it I thought it meant we were getting paid by number of clicks and still getting extra when a sale is made, and that "extra" could more or less than what the percentage used to be.
Newbie signups used to land you $25 .... in the QPC examples they're saying you'll make anywhere from $1 to $45 on a newbie referral... I'm so confused over the whole thing. I think I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and see how things come out!
I think a lot of what their pricing is based off is how the visitors you send to eBay are "engaged" with their site. What that means, I really don't know, but my theory is that it has to do with how much time they spend on the eBay site, whether or not they make any bids, and how much surfing they do at eBay. Again, just my theory...
