Default Making changes to already published ezine article

    Hello,

I've been lurking here so long that I don't feel new, but I guess officially I am.

Here's my question: I have an ezine article that's a few weeks old and steadily gets new views. In the resource box it is linked to my squidoo lens.

What I want to do is change the my link in my resource box from the lens to a new hub page. I've discovered that I like hubpages a whole lot more than squidoo. I also want to change my author name. I will tweak the article and make it a little different, but I want to keep the same title.

I've studied the guidelines at Ezine, but still am not clear if what I want to do will be approved.

Has anyone else ever done what I want to do? Or are there any opinions as to whether I would get approved? I could email them, but am afraid it would take a long time to get an answer.

Not that I don't have confidence that someone here can help, but you might try Ezine's forum to get some advice. It's likely to produce a quicker response too instead of emailing them.

But even so, I can offer something that may be of help or at least something to think about.

You mentioned one link in your in your signature box. Why not have two, one pointing to squidoo and the other to hubpages?

I don't recall having to edit an article that I've already published on Ezines, but I'm fairly certain that if you want to change your author name, that's likely to be a problem since it's associated with your account. That's one for the forum most likely.

As far as editing the content, shouldn't be a problem, especially if it's some minor edits here and there.

I'm not sure if I've been much help here, but I would think that for the most part, you should be all right with making your changes. When you do find out something, be sure to come back and let us know.

    Hi Faith,

Let me first say that I'm glad you decided to make your first post so welcome to the forum.

Mark has given you some good suggestions about EZA and I agree with most of them. Here is what I have to share with things I've learned when dealing with Ezine.

EZA Forum- although you can find some helpful advice there, I have found that you don't always get a very, shall we say "speedy" reply. The forum doesn't appear to be as active on a daily basis like this one. Someone, usually the "Ezine Angel" will get back with you eventually but it sometimes takes a while to get an answer.

You may have your question answered in the EZA blog. Have you read through any of it? There is a lot of valuable information that will assist you with many dilemmas you may be facing. You can also sign up for ezine updates to be sent to you email account. Lots of good information is given.

There is also a FAQ section that you may read through. After signing in go to the Author Resources drop down menu to select "View our FAQ".

As for your resource box Mark had a good suggestion about using more than one link. You can put 2 links in your resource box, and you may want to see which link brings in more traffic.

I can tell you this about making any changes to an article will result in the article being resubmitted and you will have to be re-approved for it to go live again. This can take a few days depending on your level status with Ezine.

Be careful when changing author names. It is not that it can't be done but make sure that your names match to where you are pointing the article to or ezine may deny the article approval.

I hope this helps a little. I am sure there will be others that can assist you even more. If you have any other questions you may pm me if you like or ask here and I will try to clarify.

Good luck with your ventures and keep posting!

    Blessings,
    Christine

    Thank you, Mark and Christine.

I hadn't thought of trying to communicate with Ezine in any other way than email, so I appreciate that idea.

You've both been helpful; thanks again.

Faith, I've done what you want to do and it's all possible.

First of all, as it's been suggested, you can have 2 links on the resource box, and yes, the article will be invisible until re-approved.

As for changing the author, you'll need to first create a pen name, and then you'll be able to edit the article (changing the author): just make sure that the site you are pointing your links to doesn't mention your name, but the pen name you want to use.

I suggest you first create the pen name, and change both the author and the resource box at the same time: this way, your articles will be invisible only once.

    Thanks, this information is helpful.

I was also planning to edit the resource box on some of my older articles, which point to pages on my site which have changed or even been removed.

I'll probably try doing it with a couple of older articles, see what happens, and then do it on others too.

    All success
