Default Sudo names and other questions...

    Hi Guys,

I was just wondering that if you set up a blog around a niche that you are not really passionate about, but you know you can make money in, is it o.k to use a sudo name on the website, in article footers etc??

I don't really want my real name to be associated with a niche where I have set up a blog around, as I'm not really an expert in this niche and I'm not passioante about it.

Also I have created product reviews for a product I am promoting in this niche just with a voice over, and I have used my sudo name instead of my real name to introduce myself...is this o.k too?

Also I know one of the best ways to make sales is through the use of Twitter, but seeing as though I'm not really into this niche, I don't really want to twitter people who are into it. Is this o.k as well?

Has anyone made a site successful without using social media to promote their site.

I think I would only use twitter and my real name if I am promoting a niche and website that I am fully passionate about, and then I would create video reviews of products with me in them...not just my voice over.

Just want to find out how other people promote websites of niches that they aren't into. Surely you don't use your real name on every site...or do you????
    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Brian (My Real Name..:-))

    Hi Brian,

Most of us use pen names when working in other niche markets. I even use one for one of the books I'm writing. Twitter is definitely not the only, or even best way to make sales. For my niche affiliate sites I stick to SEO to bring in new visitors.

    Lynn,

I was about to start a new thread on pen names (but I learned how to search forums **one small step for Jeremy**)

Two questions emerge from your response here.

You mentioned that you're using a pen name for a book you're writing. In scenarios where the e-book is a hit and you're invited to speak at a seminar, or something of that sort...How do you work that?

Secondly, from a business perspective (and I know we're not 'actually giving' legal or professional advice) how do you 'accept payments' when you are in niches with different pen names. Is it a DBA deal?

I've just been wondering about that recently. If you have 12 blogs on 12 different niches with 12 different pen names selling affiliate products...how does that work, and are there anything you've prepared regarding this?

    Confess ;-)

Oh, and use another pen name for the next secret book :-)

I simply use my real name with the affiliate products and use pen names for the sites I'm promoting them from.

It's actually a physical book, not an ebook - and not a topic I would speak on or be asked to speak on. So no worries. People have been authoring under pen names for ages.

Yes you can set up a DBA at your bank if necessary. You can also use more than one email address on your PayPal account, which I use to separate incoming payments from various sites - then transfer it all to one bank account.

In the case that my pen name became popular enough for interview & speaking requests, which is not usually the case (as those sites are not based on a personality)... I would agree to do email interviews or even audio (teleseminars, podcasts, etc).

Plus...sometimes that pen name could come out in the open in the "marketing niche" if you operate in multiple niches (a la Eben Pagen / David Deangelo). I don't see Eben's business suffering any.
