    Default Another Twitter Question....tweet tweet...

    Hi Lynn and the Gang,

Let's say I'm using my main Twitter account with my real name to follow and engage with people in the IM business, but at the same time I am passionate about Gardening and my main site with my real name is on gardening and I am following people in the gardening niche and engaging in conversation with them as well.....

Is this o.k to do... I don't want the gardening people to get confused with my tweets about IM and visa versa.....

Does this matter....because you can't really have 2 separate accounts with your real name???

Please let me know your thoughts....

    Thanks

Well, that's exactly what I do although my name domain is just a hub and I promote my weight loss/fitness stuff on Twitter under my name but I'm thinking it might be better for me to start a separate account for that.

I get overwhelmed easily so for now I'm keeping my name for personal, business and weight loss/fitness however it is recommended that you separate IM stuff from other niche stuff.

    Hi Angie,

I'm a little confused, so do you have 2 separate accounts for twitter...one for weight loss and the other for IM?

Ideally you would have two different accounts. Some people don't, but you should. I use different accounts for IM (@lynnterry), niche sites, my personal interests (private), etc.

On my main Twitter account (TraciKnoppe) I talk about a wide variety of topics, and list those in my Twitter bio so folks will know all the things that interest me. Since I'm also branding me (because I'm a public speaker) I want folks to get to know me, but I also help folks with questions about WordPress, technical questions, blogging, Twitter, social social media, etc...

However, I have other Twitter accounts for my niche sites, some that are strictly business and other personal interest accounts too - plus I have Twitter accounts for clients that I also maintain. I use TweetDeck to manage it all.

Sorry to confuse you, I do that to myself a lot

I only have one Twitter account @angienewton and it's used for everything! I will probably change that down the road but right now it works for me.

I have a hard enough time keeping up with one Twitter account. I don't think I could manage more than one no matter what tools I used. I'd end up posting from the wrong username half the time.

That being said, I do think that if you market to completely different niches, separate accounts would probably be best. As you said, your IM and gardening friends probably aren't interested in the other topic tweets.

Mostly people use a different for each niche. You could use different ways of writing your name to distinguish if you like or think carefully about using pen names

I use separate twitter accounts for my niche sites and I also use Tweetdeck for all of them which is tons of fun when you make a mistake and tweet from the wrong niche - LOL!

But Linda, you are right, it can be a lot to keep up with, I feel like a whirling dervish sometimes :-)

I agree that you should have a seperate twitter acccount and facebook page for the gardening stuff. For twitter as long as you do not use two accounts to work together to game the system you should be ok. I have my name on a few acccounts, yet have a different URL for each one so as not to game the system. Each one has to have its own email address.
Hootsuite is the best way to manage multiple accounts for me. Tweetdeck is cool, yet Adobe Air is not that friendly with my system resources. Hootsuite is free, just click the account you want to send from and go.
