    Default Facebook and Twitter posts

I am wondering what you guys think is the right amount of posts for Facebook. I sometimes think I don't post enough, but don't want to be obnoxious. I unfriended a guy today off of Facebook who was posting every few minutes. It got irritating. Also it was all about linking to his site to sell this and promote that. I don't mind that either, but not every few minutes.

The same questions goes for Twitter. I realize that they are slightly different venues, but whatyathink?

    My advice: Be yourself.

    I tweet a lot.
I post to Facebook a lot.

I figure that people have the option to unsubscribe if they find me annoying. I never, ever check my "followers" and I really don't mind how many people choose to follow me.

I understand your fear of "spamming" people. I believe if a persons intentions are to "make money off twitter and facebook" that comes across in their tweets.

My intention is to provide value, build relationships, share a glimpse into who I am, add in some informative content related to my niche, and a bit of silliness along the way. Yes, it can drive a lot of traffic to my sites and offers. But that is a by-product and not my primary goal.

If you share your thoughts, ideas, feelings, blog posts, products - and anything that resonates with you - I believe the followers will come willingly because you are adding value.

I hope this helps you find your Twitter comfort zone!
    Good luck!

Thanks Jen. I always find your tweets interesting. I don't see you on facebook, but I imagine that is the same.

It seems some people can post often and it is interesting and others do it and is just annoying. Goes back to providing content and giving something

I would agree, just be yourself. That is what I do!

Well, nobody can accuse me of overtweeting. I think my record is about 7 days between tweets. While you might want to do it a lot more frequently than that, I believe you have to be careful about high-frequency tweeting. I follow a certain famous eBay guru who's forever posting long blocks of pretty low-relevance messages. That really dilutes my interest in her and I find myself skipping over many of her messages without reading.

You do your followers a service by giving a second thought about whether the message is really going to be that interesting to people. And I really appreciate it when people can wait at least a half hour since their last one. If you want to write an essay it's better to do it in a blog and link to it from Twitter than to serialize it in 140 character pieces.

If you keep the quality high and the frequency low, you probably won't be driving anybody away, at least.

    Thanks Stefani and Wade.
Yeah, I agree about being myself and about quality verses quantity.

I listened to IMTW this morning and Lynn, et al, were saying how twitter gets them the most traffic. I like Lynn's posts and Ed's but some people come across so spammy.

I guess I was just wondering about the rubric of how often to post. I suppose it doesn't matter as long as they are quality, informative, and offer something other than "buy this from me!"

As far as twitter goes I won't worry about it since many people see so many tweets from other people that it is no big deal. As far as facebook goes I would think that any more than 3-5 per day is too many. Also with the new privacy settings you can organize your friends by groups and share certain items only with for example other internet marketers. That way you can avoid inundating your friends and family who may not care to see all of your stuff.

I've noticed that on the days that I post to twitter regularly I get more hits on my blog. When I check GAnalytics, I don't see them coming from twitter, but I do get them!
