The best way to build an email list, is to build it yourself. I would not purchase a list personally, or traffic for that matter (outside of Google Adwords or similar).

What can you offer your visitors that relates to the products you sell?

Ideas:

- a coupon code
- special offers
- tips on using the product(s)

Look at keyword phrases in your niche for ideas on what your target market needs & wants, and offer that to them. This is the best way to set up a mailing list for your ecommerce site.

Look at other ecommerce sites for examples.

You'll need Aweber. They are a mailing list manager, and you can have unlimited lists in that one account. They'll handle your double opt-in process, automatic confirmation emails, etc.
