    I use filezilla.. It was pretty simple and I am tech challenged.

    I have a file that is a RAR file and I am not sure what to use to open it.Has anyone opened a file like this?

    Yes, many zip programs can also open rar files,WinZip , or WinRAR; but there are others.

    Check your zip extraction program to see if what file extensions you can association with the program, and see if RAR files are among the choices, if so - you're good to go.

    Being really new to this I took the recommendation of a friend. I am using filezilla. Pretty easy to use so far.

    FileZilla again... Love it! I do feel that I like the earlier versions than the new ones.
