Default How do I change content to increase SERP rankings?

    Hi,

I have always been baffled by this concept. I know that creating fresh content on my new blog will help to get it indexed and hopefully rank for my keyword phrases.

But how do I change content on my ecommerce store and not LOSE the SERP rankings I have worked so hard for?

Should I create different versions of the home page content and wait for it to be cached by Google? What if the new version of the home page fails and I lose my rankings?

I'm confused about this concept. Any SEO help is welcomed.

    Thanks!
    Lisa

When it comes to content I can give you the following tip in general:

Stay as original as possible and stay updated with your content at any time (also when you would like
    to change it).

Having fresh content prevents you (in a way) from having to compete with other people promoting the same product or niche that you're promoting. When you use duplicated content not only do you lose all credibility and originality but you do not get rank as a high converting, high priority site with Google.

Change content not mean to change your keywords..If you are changing content than your keywords must remain the same..Also use some new ideas like include some tools or chat forums..

If you have rankings why do you feel like you need to change content?

If you already have rankings for your keywords then why don't you work on building more links to your store using the keywords you'd like to rank with?

Someone may correct me on this, but as I understand it changing the content of your main page isn't going to do that much for your search rank. It's not a bad idea, of course, so repeat visitors see something different when they come back. I believe adding new content to a website does help, though. This could be with new pages or articles. A trend I see that I like is to have a blog on the site with an ecommerce site. You can add an entry every so often relevant to the subject and the search engines see something new. The entries don't have to be very long or heady, just new.

Thank you Wade, that makes a lot of sense!
