Looking to learn more about text links in blog posts
Hi all,
The topic of purchasing text links in blog posts came up in the SSWT Q&A discussion today and being I'm not familiar with this linking strategy, I would greatly appreciate any input from those who care to share their knowledge.
I do not buy/sell text links from networks or merchants that do this as a business model, because it tends to create a "footprint" on your website that could potentially get you penalized by the major search engines. They tend to consider it "manipulating pagerank".
My method is to manage my "advertising" manually. It is best to outsource the task to a VA, or Virtual Assistant, but you can easily do it yourself as well.
Here you will find an example, which is a request I posted on the Job Board at our original forum:
This campaign was meant to do two things: create buzz and get traffic, and get quality relevant inbound links to one of those two pages. I paid various amounts to each person that took the task, depending on how they mentioned the link and where.
The perk to this method is that you are buying permanent links. A link within a blog post for example, doesn't get removed if you don't pay a monthly bill. And links within the content area of a page carry more weight than links in a sidebar or an ad unit - in regards to SEO.
