What frustrates/motivates you?

Hi All! I posted this in the Elite Forum but thought I would add it here as well because I am really interested in what you think. (I hope I'm not committing some "forum crime" here now by double posting, if so let me know )

What do you find frustrates you the most with your online business? And what do you do about it? We all know that the real thing is about taking action, how do you do to do that? (what motivates you or make you do it? It isn't always easy)

one thing that is frustrating is to find stuff that is not genuine or being led into options that do not really exist.

Linda,Took the survey. I guess I can honestly say that I am my own worst enemy. I have a really hard time staying focused. I am trying to keep a regular schedule and it seems to be helping. As Lynn says (start to profit) I have to learn to stay more focused.

Hmm... Good question.

I get frustrated sometimes working in such a young marketplace like the Net, where whatever we do can become out of date before we learn how to do it well.

As example...

I will spend years learning Perl, because I know that once I learn Perl, I will have that skill forever.

But I will often blow off SEO, because I sense that once I convert all my sites to use an SEO theory, the theory will be replaced with another one.

My mindset can be old fashioned. I picture a career as learning a skill, and developing it over time.

But the Net is more a matter of riding the waves, and jumping from one to the next, at the right time. A moving target...

So, could you please slow down the Net? I'd really appreciate it, thanks! :-)

I think that many times we over complicated and get stuck in the learning process. Like Eric says you need to find what you are passionate about and make the best use of what you have.

Rick: One good thing when coming across new IM products is to ask yourself: Do I need this Now? Will it help me with what I am currently doing? Never buy something because it "might" come in handy one day or because everyone has it...

Yes! Great point! It pains me to read the posts of so many newcomers who are getting buried under a mountain of things they think they need to have and learn.

Less is more. Success comes not from mastery of millions of details, but by focusing on, and acting on, a few fundamental basics.

1) Passion - We should find a topic we are sincerely interested in, because we'll need that passion to keep going past the obstacles. We'll need to be inspired, to inspire our readers.

2) Content - Learn everything we can about our topic, and create as much quality content as we possibly can. More is better, better is better.

3) Links - Spend at least half our time getting links, links, links and more links.

4) Adsense - Once we are making decent money with Adsense, then we are in a position to explore other business models. Until then, skip all the fancy stuff, and focus like a laser on content and links.

If we really want to spend a lot of time learning, ok, good, learn about our topic. Please note how the above 4 steps don't really require learning a lot about Net business, or net business technology.

Why is Net business so complicated?

Primarily because those leading the field need it to be complicated, so that they will be able to create an endless parade of new products to sell us. And, to be fair, because buyers use these products to convince themselves they are working, when really they are usually just dreaming.

Like Eric says you need to find what you are passionate about and make the best use of what you have.

A much more concise less is more way to replace all my too many words above! :-) Good advice Linda and Eric.
