    Default Question on Website,versus Blog

    Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted here but I always read the posts pretty much every day.

I have a question; I have a website that has been up about a year and I am getting fairly consistent sales from it but not as much as I would like.

I am considering converting it to a blog to keep adding content. I rank on the first page of Google for a couple or more keywords.

I am wondering if it will hurt my Google rank to switch to a blog or should I leave it as a website?

A blog does have certain advantages such as ease of adding content, However, speaking for myself, I think I would tr to incorporate a blog into my site rather than making a complete switch over. It is hard to argue with top Google rankings.

Thanks, that is a good idea I had not thought of.

I will start working on that right away.

I am going to revise my site though as it's been the same for a year now and I think I can do better on it now than I did back then.

A few thoughts came to mind as I read your original post.

There's no reason why you can't constantly add new content to a website. You don't need a blog to do that. However, as Desdichata said, a blog can make it easier to frequently update your site.

A blogging platform (such as WordPress) can be used to manage a "static" site. I have several sites I manage with WordPress, but they don't look anything like a traditional blog. For example, sellkidsproducts.com.

And finally, while adding content is probably a great idea, have you tried to determine exactly why you aren't getting more sales? Sometimes we just stumble around in the dark trying to improve things. Taking a little time at first to evaluate what needs to be changed might serve you better.

    Thank you also, Linda.

I definitely need to do that.

I am already working on doing some research and evaluation in that area.

    Thanks again for your suggestions.

BTW, I do like your sellkidsproducts.com site.

If anyone has any suggestions, I am open to them (It's for my Double Wedding Ring site).
