Default Ready to post first report. Some questions.

I am about to put out my first report, but I have a couple of questions I debated on starting two threads, but decided against it.

    1. Is it a good idea to put disclaimers and rights stuff in the report. It seems some do and "this report is copyrighted and you do not have permission to resell it" type stuff and others don't. Some also have "this report reflects the opinions of the author and are not meant to be understood as from God" type stuff. What's the norm?

    2. Does the $7 script work? I know there have been a couple of threads on this, but I would really like to hear from some who have used it. I know goaskmom, said she had some trouble with the scripting. I could certainly use the viral list building thing as my list is still pretty small. I, however, am leaning away from it since it sounds a little like it is too much bother to be worth it. I wouldn't use is as a normal thing for my site, only to get some list building done.

    Anybody got some advice?

Default Copyright and No resell additions

    Hi Stephen,
I use both for my own peace of mind, but if the report isn't secured (can not be printed or copied to text in some way) it may be meaningless. But the copyright notice I keep just in case I find my report being sold without my permission.

As for the $7 script, I have it and haven't used it so can't help you there

Let me know how it works out because I'm not exactly "script literate" and you'll be able to walk the rest of us through setting it up.

Georjina, thanks for the response! I was beginning to think this thread smelled funny!

I wound up putting a disclaimer and copyright notice in. Some do, some don't and I figured it didn't hurt anything. Might not help much either, but what the heck!

I don't know about the $7 script thing either. I kind of feel like the answer is no, but I'm not sure.

Yes, Georjina is right. Dishonest people will get what they want one way or another if they want it bad enough.

I put my stories and novels, reports if I have any, out there relatively unprotected. I have the copyright notice on them all, and sometimes state there are no resale rights with them--although, with fiction and such, you'd think that wouldn't be necessary. I just don't feel like being bothered with all the password protection stuff. I sometimes disable the ability to copy, but usually allow printing. Just depends how concerned I am about it. Not terribly. Most people respect the copyright and your ownership of it.

And if you do come across it being used illegally, you can go after them. Of course, nothing really prevents them from just setting up business under a new name, new host . . . but still . . . you do have rights.

Haven't put any disclaimers up on my sites yet, however . . . Maybe I should get to it!

Don't have the $7 script. Guess I just thought one simply charged $7 for whatever . . .

I say put the copyright in. Here's why. I have a million things on my computer. Sometimes I go in looking for freebies to share with my readers. If there's no copyright or you can share this message I can't remember where I got it and if I can share it. I like it when it's very clear what I can and can't do with something.

    I haven't used the 7 dollar script. I use e-junkie. For 5 dollars a month you can't beat it.

Not sure about what the 7 dollar script is so I can't suggest anything there. I agree with Jackie Lee about putting in your rights. I operate a site where I giveaway products which have giveaway license. Therefore it is important that I know where I stand with a product. Sure there are people who will ignore your license, there are people who will obey your license. There is nothing you can do about the first group. Your job is to explain clearly to the second group so there is no confusion.
