What is it you're trying to promote? You really want inbound links from the content area of relevant web pages, which is why blog posts (yours or guest posts on others) is such a great & easy way to get them.

I too enjoyed that email you sent... feeling like you were asking just 'ME'!

I had to choose the middle option to vote but I'm really doing more than
going through the motions and I'm definitely not spinning my wheels...

I wish I could say 'rocking it and making lots of money' but that is definitely
not where I'm at!

I am reaching out and always hoping for more response... (comments) and
focusing on more writing about what I have learned, with less time spent
on discovery and research... I'm rather patient about seeing more money results

Dear Lynn,

I'm a former English teacher that would love to be able to work from home. I've always been involved in direct sales in some form or fashion, but my interest has turned to the net. I've gone the ezine and rewrite route, had several news articles published, and have a miscellaneous personal blog. I've also blogged for a realtor, not as easy as it looks. My friends are always asking me to teach them something. I figured I could use my teaching background in some way.

My desire is to help local business owners learn how a blog can benefit them. There are so many things that I need to learn. I read everything I can, but I need some "real" people time. All I can say is "HELP"!

It sounds like you're working more towards building a readership in your niche, than monetizing your content. Is that right? You can easily do both of course. You want to put focus into building your RSS & Email subscribers, and also on conversion rates (of both free & paid offers, affiliate or your own).

When it comes to getting your readers to take action on your site, keep in mind that commenting (while great, and a nice ego stroke!) is not the ultimate objective...
