  1. Default Dilemma..Hoping you guys can assist

Ok, My husband and I have so many great things we would like to do as far as blogging..There is one in particular that we keep coming back to but not quiet sure if there is a market for it...We are searching key words and such, and trying to find affiliates that would be associated with our Niche so to speak...On the other hand, I have a great idea for something else I can do with my best friend, and 1 that dh can do...We have domain names for all these sites...We would like to make all our sites interactive as far as people being able to comment on our blog and get to really know our readers..With our main Niche I dont know if that will work so we are a bit hesitant..

    Any Suggestions?

    TIA

Well, I would always recommend doing what you like doing best.

Odds are you can find a way to make money in your niche, but you may have to think outside the box a little.

An example would be...A friend of mine is a fly fisherman, and he wants to make money doing what he likes, but he doesn't feel teaching people how to fish or tie flies is where its at, so we were brainstorming, and thinking about the ways to monetize his knowledge.

One of the things we came up with, was a was to show other fly fisherman to start up a blog, or to build a list or something like that.

It was kind of a mix of a couple niches, but it was way off the beaten path, but still in fly fishing with some make money thrown in there too.

So maybe you could do a hybrid of both niches.

If you want, you can give some hints about your niche, and we can provide some feedback...

    Ok, cool

I think there could be something there. Ill have to think about it a little, but maybe if it doesnt deal with swimming directly, you could expand a little into a parenting or time management or busy moms niche, and include after school sports as a broader piece of the puzzle.

Maybe you should write down a list of pains that you and your fellow swim parents have, or had at one point.

Then try to list out what has solved those pains, or what makes the pains easier to deal with.

From there you could go into possibly creating a product to solve one of the major pains in your niche.

Yes I like these ideas We were thinking more on information for people who are looking or dont have knowledge of swimming, as well as training whether it be dryland, or working out nutrition of a swimmer. as well as articles on the sport...tips of the week for maybe some strokes..again Just not sure if there is a market for it There aren't alot of people posting, blogging on this Niche although we have been sitting on this idea for 5 months now going back and fourth...should we or should we not?

Id love to find affiliate programs that we could also get involved with, trying just think what would be relevant to our Niche other than Working out and such...

Again thank you for your replies...

The best place to start is to just do what you love. Start blogging about it, do videos on it, guest blog and do radio interviews, just get excited and share that with the people who love to hear/read about that kind of stuff.

The money will come. Sponsors will come out of the woodwork if you create a fan base or a loyal responsive following. Period. You just have to make sure there are merchants and money in your market - the rest is easy.

To give credit, I'm reading Crush It! by Gary Vaynerchuk and recently heard him speak on this very topic at the Underground Seminar 6 hosted by Yanik Silver. Keep an eye on http://www.clicknewz.com for my review of the book - and the opportunity to win one of 8 copies I'll be giving away

One way to see if there is a market for something, is to look in amazon for related books. If there are a few books on the subject, you can see the sales rank, and odd are people buy them.

If there is a market for the books, it usually indicates people will buy an ebook for considerably more.

But like Lynn says, if thats what you like, go for it, and the money will work its self out.
