Thread: Super Affiliate Handbook Question

Keep us posted, Scott - I'm interested to know what you hear back.

    Engage...

I don't really get your beef with that. She did in fact make over $400k/year in commissions. No business is pure profit - there's always an investment. She used to do heavy PPC advertising (Google Adwords, etc), but she was still turning a great profit and a heckuva income from her home office. Not sure where you got the $200k figure.

There's no "slight of hand" in my opinion. That's what she earned.

Lynn, don't take my word, just ask her. Read the original version of the book again.

Gross income only indicates the scale of a business, not the "take home pay".

As example, it's routine for companies to have a billion dollars in sales, and still lose money, and go bankrupt.

As example, lots of people have earned tons in commissions, and still lost money because they paid too much for ads.

Her book promoted the gross income in big letters on the cover, in a clear attempt to imply that's how much money she earned with her method.

The simple fact is, she did not earn $400,000+.

The other simple fact is, that even though she had an entirely impressive real income to proclaim, she still choose to play games, and exaggerate it. That's called greed.

The last simple fact is she cheerfully admitted all this cleverness to me in a private email.

Rosiland's claim was that she could help readers build a profitable business, NOT that she could help them build a big business. Thus, the title of the book should have been net income, not gross income.

I'm not claiming she is a bad person.

I'm claiming she was at that time a captive of the dominant IM group consensus mindset, which has punched big holes in the credibility of the entire industry, and damaged your and my income.

I stopped following her at that point, and so don't know her current relationship to the truth. I'm willing to learn that she's learned from experience like all of us do.

Hope that clarifies the complaint somewhat...

Thanks for that link. Unfortunately, things seem to have changed since I bought the handbook back in 2005. My email isn't listed as a valid username at this link to retrieve the password.

The download link in my ClickBank email receipt goes to a page on Clickbank that doesn't exist anymore.

So, I'll let you know what happens if there is a response to my ticket request to get the updated handbook.

I still disagree with you Engage, but that's okay...

The Super Affiliate Handbook completely changed my life & business, and I am forever grateful for the method and knowledge that she shared. Worth $47 ALL day long, and really a teensy drop in the bucket of an investment compared to the return. Six years later I am still a huge fan.

Yes, it is ok. We don't have to agree. In fact, we'll create better content here if we don't agree. In that regard, we are on the same team, content dance partners, not competitors.

Well ok, but for the record, you've responded with a sales pitch instead of logic.

I do realize and appreciate that, unlike me, you are an excellent diplomat and sales person. I bow to you in that regard, truly I do.

For those readers with a view limited to their own immediate situation, your skillful diplomatic sales reply will likely be a sufficient answer.

For those with a wider view, this one little example illustrates how connected we all are, whether we like it or not.

When an industry leader damages their own credibility, they damage the credibility and business of everybody else working in that industry.

As example, just a few days ago I read someone on this forum comment that they don't believe that one can make a decent living online.

In other words, they don't believe either you or me.

And we are so charming! Well, you are.

I'm absolutely convinced there are literally millions of people who need us, but don't believe us, and that they will thus never become our clients, and we are the poorer for it.

Rosiland's clever headline took money out of your pocket, and put it in to hers. That wasn't her intention, but that is the effect.

Imho, what's required here is a response which would be a blend of our two styles.

If this is ever to be a truly professional industry, a challenge to the IM culture status quo has to be made by people in leadership positions. Not the usual cliches and clever little quips, but a serious challenge.

In order for those challenges to be successful, they need to be made by leaders with considerable diplomatic skill.

    Writers and sellers, working together.

Here's an example, from the real world of business.

My wife Kathy is a massage therapist. When she first got in to the business 30 years ago, the whole field was viewed as something yucky that nice people wouldn't be involved in.

Now middle class soccer moms drop their kids off for massages without giving it a thought.

The massage market has literally exploded.

This was accomplished when industry leaders insisted on setting and enforcing professional standards that the public could have confidence in.

Until our young industry learns how to do this, we'll continue to be viewed as amateurish quacks by much of the public, because too often, we are.

    Thus hath I quacked!

I knew Rosalind from a little less than afar not long ago, and I know she's just not the deceptive type.

She IS someone I'd love to meet.

I don't see the problem with using the gross income figure. It IS what she made, what's the real difference whether her expenses are all deducted??
Does anyone who says they make a particular amount of money actually make it, or is Uncle Sam holding onto a bunch for "safekeeping"?

I don't know if she's the deceptive type or not. I only know the title of the book was blatantly deceptive. Coulda been a one time thing, couldn't say.

Well, don't be shy, invite her to this thread, and meet her.

Let's say I want to sell you a stock. I tell you the company took in 300 billion dollars last year, and use this number to convince you it's a great stock.

After you've bought the stock, I remember to tell you the company had 900 billion in expenses last year.

If you will happily accept this transaction without complaints, then it's you that I want to meet, cause I have dozens of half finished bug ridden coding projects I'd love to sell you.

Engage, I understand what you are saying, but I hadn't intended this thread to be a discussion of the Super Affiliate Handbook pros and cons or whether it is deceptive or not. I didn't find it particulary useful when I bought it, but Lynn has results from using it and I don't. Because she highly recommended it and because she has results, I decided to go back and take another look at it to see what I might have missed, or not understood. As part of that I thought it would be helpful to get the latest version.

If I can't get the latest for some reason (which appears not at this point), I'll look at the version I have, and then move on. I figure I can learn a ton from the great information that Lynn provides and that's good enough for me now. However, I think it would be useful to keep this thread open and focused on getting updates, because if that indeed has changed, then there is an problem that needs to be explored.
