Default Is Google Keyword Tool Working For You?

    Hi guys,

Could you possibly do a quick visit to the Google Keyword Tool, and report whether you can access it?

    https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

They're making some changes, and I can no longer access the tool. I can see the page, but a gray transparent screen covers the entire page, and makes it impossible to click on anything.

I previously assumed this was a temporary glitch, but after a number of days, I'm starting to think it's a browser related issues. I'm using Firefox 2 on the Mac. Doesn't work in Safari either.

    Many thanks!

Weird. Works fine for me. Do macs have a cache or some such thing that maybe needs to be cleared?

Thanks for your report Cindy, appreciate it.

Hmm, clearing cache is a good idea, but isn't working in this case.

My guess is that it might be a browser issue. I'm running Firefox 2, and can't upgrade without upgrading my entire OS.

It's odd to be able to see the page, but not use it. Weird!

it works okay on my itouch, which operates on safari. I did not that it took forever to load, which is strange.

OMG, this appears to be a conspiracy by Google against me personally!! I knew that business about "do no evil" was suspicious. :-)

Thanks guys, I think I'll stop waiting for Google to fix it, and see what I can do from here. Appreciate it.

Engage, are you seeing the new version of the keyword tool or the old one? I just realized there is a pop-up box on the new one (mine keeps changing back and forth)where you have to enter a captcha code before continuing, and the rest of the screen is grayed out. Perhaps your browser is blocking that pop-up somehow?

    Hi Cindy,

Ah, that's a good theory to test, thanks. I turned off the popup blocker of Firefox.

What's odd is that sometimes I'm taken to the old version, which works as before.

Other times, I'm taken to the new version. I see a transparent gray film which covers the entire window. I can see the new version beneath this film, but I can't touch it. I can see the link to old version on the page, but can't click it.

So yea, this gray film is a form of popup sorta. Turning my popup blocker on and off seems to have no effect, though it does seem it should.

Who knows. Perhaps if I'm just patient the Google guys will eventually sort it out.

I have no interest in upgrading my system software, browser, or keyword tool, as everything's been working just dandy for years, but sooner or later I suppose I'll simply have to keep up with the times.

Hey you kids, stop the world, I wanna get off!

Yup, sometimes I get the old version, sometimes the new version. No idea why. Sounds like whatever they are using to generate that pop-up doesn't play nice with your system.

    Have you tried <shudder> IE?

GASP! OMG, you apostate blasphemer! Quick, cover the ears of the children!

    Ahem...

That's another good idea thanks. Last I checked, many years ago, the latest IE I could run was 5.5. I also have some other browsers I could run up the flag pole.

Thanks for reporting you're seeing new and old versions too. That indicates they're still messing around with it, and may sooner or later make it all nice.

I think I'm gonna just be lazy awhile longer and hope for the best.

I suppose we might convert this thread in to a discussion of other keyword tools? It would be wise for me, and perhaps others, to have alternatives available.

What's the latest greatest new fangled must have ORDER NOW! keyword tool these days?
