Question about Google and Duplicate Content Penalty
Hi Lynn and everyone,
I've been working hard on my business the last few months, and now a question has arisen:
I've been blogging consistently since 12/2/09 on posterous http://www.elderlyfraudrecoveryhelp.posterous.com. A couple of weeks ago I set up a blogsite with wordpress so I can eventually monetize it http://www.elderlyfraudrecoveryhelp.com. The blog has been getting decent traffic and ranking in the top 5 for some of my keywords on google. The blogsite needs much more work, so I'm not really publicizing it yet. The question is whether or not I should eventually phase out the posterous blog in favor of the wordpress blogsite, and in the meantime, am I getting penalized by google for duplicate content?
I hope I am asking this correctly, and good luck to everyone else in the forum.
When I switched blog platforms, I left the content on my original blog and just began blogging new posts on the new blog. Every now and then I put a new post on the original blog to link to things at my new blog, but for the most part I just left it as-is.
If you have RSS or other subscription options at the original blog, you'll want to update those so that visitors are getting subscribed to the new blog.
Your information was exactly what I needed! Thanks for taking the time to reply.
You know, Lynn, you've got a good thing going here. You and the other members are very helpful, and I really appreciate that. Sometimes working on my internet projects feels very isolated, so it's great to have a community like this.
