Thread: Is anyone doing a podcast out there?

Question Is anyone doing a podcast out there?

I was curious if any folks here are producing or have produced a podcast. I know that with promotion you can monetize it depending on what you are trying to do and the subject matter.
I wanted to know because I am in the planning stages of producing one for my church's website/Facebook and have considered throwing a few affiliate sponsors (religious orientated) in there to possibly generate some money to help pay for hosting etc.. I have some basic experience with audio production but may be getting in over my head.
I don't know - any thoughts or suggestions?

    HELP!

Lynn has been writing a lot on her blog about podcasting. That link might help!

Thanks for the link Angie! Lynn's posts in her blog are what got me 'pumped up' to go for it in the first place. But, I'm stuck and not sure what to do now that I've got something recorded.

    Mike,
Lynn has not started her podcast yet but it is in the works. Check out the link I posted above where you'll find all of her blog posts about podcasting and be sure to also sign up for her mailing list while on the blog so that you can keep up to date on when she publishes her 1st one.

    Welcome to the forum!

What are you stuck on exactly - editing the audio file, where to host it, how to set up the RSS feed, or which step? I'm working this process myself right now, so hopefully I can share what I'm learning and help you out.

    Hi Lynn,
So sorry I missed your reply, but it's great to hear from you. As far as editing, no problems there. I've done a bit in the past plus some video also and Audacity is an easy pgm. to work with. For hosting, right now I'm doing Powerpress on a blog I gave up on and it seems OK. This project is for my church's youth ministry so I am on a shoestring budget to start. Once I get it going though I think I can get some funds to expand.
My main question is in regards to equipment. I am using my Logitech headset right now but am leaning toward the Blue Yeti microphone you recommended. How does it work for a group situation? I need to be able to have 2-3 or more people for an interview setting and I think I may need to go with more than one mic and use a mixer. Would you have any suggestions on that setup?
I'm still searching away for tutorials/reviews but if you have a link please send it my way.
Also, I'm still trying to grasp the whole RSS feed thing too. Funny how with everything being so easy no when you have to think you sometimes forget how
Lastly - I quit myself after almost 30 years. Always thought they would bury me with one in my mouth. If I can quit - YOU CAN! Trust me it gets easier. Good luck, I'm pulling for you.

    Thank you Phil Appreciate that!

The Blue Yeti has a group setting where it pulls from every side, and one for solo recording where it just pulls from the front and cancels out surrounding noise. It's the mic we used to record the IMTW episode in San Diego in a noisy room with 5 hosts around a table - with the Blue Yeti in the middle of the table. Then you can use a free software as a leveler for all the voices - levelator I think it's called.

    Awesome!
Refresh my memory as to the episode. 'IPad chatter' in April? I'd like to have a listen. The Yeti is sounding like a viable and easy way to go to minimize equipment needs.
    Thanks for the help!
