    Default Blog as a Subdirectory

    Hello All

I would like to setup a blog for my website as a subdirectory. I have joomla on my main page and want to use wordpress for the blog.

I have added wordpress with fantastico as I am using Cpanel.

I was successful in getting it to work where blog. mysite .com brang up the wordpress blog.

When I click on anything in the wordpress blog the url changes to mysite.com/blog/filename....

It just goes back to the directory that the blog is in. Is there a way to keep it saying blog.mysite.com/filename... ?

    Any help is appreciated..

    Thanks

If I follow you correctly, it could be the site address.
Can you log into admin? If you can, in admin, go to Settings >> General. See what's in your Site Address. If it shows the one with the /filename, then you need to adjust it to the sub-domain.

If you can't get into Admin you may have to do this in the database via phpMyAdmin

It looks like you went in and added wordpress as a folder when you uploaded it. Then it will say...yourdomain.com/blog/ If you wanted it to be blog.yourdomain.com then you need to set up a subdomain first.

Everyone's hosting is different so I can't give you spedific directions on how to do that. If you are in hostgator I can help more. lol

    Thanks for the reply.

I tried it. It doesn't work still. I'm getting the bad gateway error. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that this is an add-on domain that I am adding the subdomain to.

    Thanks everyone

    I finally figured it out.

    1) create the subdomain
    2) install it on the subdomain

    ***Most Important Step***
    3)Log out of Cpanel.

I can't believe that is all it was.

Sometimes it's the smallest thing you are doing wrong.
