Question about domain extensions...

Just wanted to get an idea if any of you are buying the dot mobi domains with all the talk on mobile marketing ...

What are your thoughts about this domain extension ? Thank you

Well I was looking around last night for .mobi domains ... and what I see is its pretty much impossible to find a single word .mobi such as shop.mobi etc... plus alot of the high searched keywords have been snapped up ...

It looks like alot on .cm 's are available for $100 a year ... lol guess that's why ... but many single term kw are gone too.

I have never seen a .cm or .mobi site come up in search results yet ... have any of you ?

There was a lot of excitement about .mobi a year or so ago. With smartphone technology advancing so fast, it is becoming less important in my mind.

My Evo 4G browses the internet almost as well as my laptop. Ok, maybe a slight exaggeration, but it's not like the limited browsers of just 18 months ago. Androids and iPhones have changed the landscape.

I used to have a lot of clients looking for mobile website design. Mobile website creation is seeming less and less necessary because their regular website shows up on a good smartphone just as well as it does on a PC.

I'm clueless about smart phones, so thanks for this insight Mike.

Ok, here's a truly clueless question. How many websites are actually useful on a smart phone? I've never surfed the net on a smart phone, and just can't picture enjoying using a screen that small. What am I missing?

I have accessed my credit union account as well as PayPal on my iPhone. Have even bid on a couple of things on eBay from my phone. My eyes aren't that great but it's handy to be able to do these things from my phone.
