    Default Trying to get ranked in Google without article marketing

    Hello;

    I found a keyword phrase that only has 6 search results but gets 500 searches per month. Instead of setting up a website, I decided to create a squidoo lens to see if I could get it ranked. I was hoping to promote a dog training course. I put up the lens over a week ago, but haven't seen anything yet. I am afraid to submit an article, because that might out rank the lens I am trying to promote. What other things could I do to get noticed? There are no other blogs or forums with that keyword phrase, so unless I went more broad, I am not sure what else to try. Also, I did ping the search engines. That hasn't worked either.

    Thanks;

    Brian.

    That seems pretty weird that a key phrase that gets 500 searches a month only returns 6 results. Were you using broad match or exact match when seeing the search count?

    Anyway, you might want to bookmark the Squidoo lens. You can use a bookmarking service like Sociable or Only Wire.

    I dont do Squidoo yet so forgive me if this is a dumb answer.

    Couldn't you just do the article and have a link to the Squidoo lens then promote them both via social too?

    Default Thank You to everyone that posted here

    I know that must seem weird to want to get ranked without having to write articles, but here is the phrase. Check it out for yourself. "crate potty training puppy" I saw someone who had a site on this toppic who was doing well with it, buy didn't want to spend any money until I saw how hard it would be to rank. I did the search in quotes to only return exact phrase matches. I think that there are even less than 6 results now. Is it worth trying to sell something in that niche?

    Thanks;

    Brian.

    Just keep in mind that the general public doesn't search with quotes, so the sites you're competing with are actually the ones that show on the first page when you search without them. Also, I believe it's Lynn that says no matter how many search results there are, you're still only competing with the top five.

    According to Wordtracker those words in a phrase only gets 1-2 searches a month which jives better with the 6 results but I agree with Cindy.

    Chris...I'm showing Wordtracker as listing 1-2 searches per year. Remember that WT gives ANNUAL search results, not daily or monthly. Here it is from their site:

    "'Searches' is the number of times that the keyword has been searched for in our partner search engines in the US.

    The data currently contains 647,823,010 searches over 365 days."

    Article marketing is not required to get search rankings. In fact, blog posts rank more quickly than articles on article sites. Remember that Panda cracked down HARD on article distribution websites so I wouldn't depend on them to give you too much help with rankings.

    But everyone is right... you can't just put up a lens and let it sit expecting the search engines to do all the work. You have to promote it just the same as you would any other web page.
