Thread: Getting Into Web 2.0

  1. Default Getting Into Web 2.0

I've been trying to build backlinks for a few 'review articles' on my site so they rank well for several keywords. I've been making profile links, article marketing, forum posting, blog commenting.... None of them seem to work very well, or at all. I tried social bookmarking, but it seems like it's more time consuming, although I'm going to continue updating my facebook and twitter fan pages.

Anyway, I thought I'd give 2.0 blogging a shot. My website (Motocross Hideout) is made of articles on bike and riding tips, product reviews, and other helpful info to help riders. The articles that I want to rank high for are reviews of a helmet cam, motorcycle carrier, and camelbak hydration system. I already have a hubpages account, and I started posting on there again. That account will be about my weekly personal life on motocross and everything dirt bikes. I will also be using blogger since that's where I started MXHideout, and it will be more of a motocross news blog.

My question is, how and when do you backlink back to that certain article? Can it be from any/every post? How often can I do it? I don't want to have to make 10 different blogs just to link back to an article 10 times. I don't have that much knowledge with 2.0 blogging, which is why I'm here. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

You should read Lynn's blog post as it has several links to other articles about backlinks.

Thanks, I'll check 'em out. Seems like this forum is fading away....

I'm still having trouble with linkbuilding. I can't find any good way to regularly get backlinks. I mean, I can get a few here and there, but I want to be able to work a few days a week getting 10-50 backlinks a day. I thought article marketing would work because I have gotten so many trackbacks, but hardly any of them seem to show up as a backlink....

    Hey, Tom:

Why do you seek 10 to 50 backlinks a day? That's a bit excessive, maybe. Is that what you need to compete in your niche? If so, that may be a job to outsource if you can afford it.

Let us know more. I'm curious about your number.

Yeah, well it doesn't necessarily have to be 50 a day. I just want to be able to get some good backlinks any given day without having to spend hours trying to figure out how. Yes, some of the keywords are fairly tough, but definitely doable; first page sites on google for certain keyword phrases have 50-400 backlinks. Although, a couple have just 1 or very few links... how is that possible?

Have you tried guest articles, press releases and blog comments? These are some of the more effective link building techniques, although not quick and easy. With guest blogging, you could possibly shoot up in rankings if you choose a good related niche blog and link appropriately with anchor, etc.

There really is no quick and dirty method to acquire high quality links.

What link building methods do you use now? Let me know.

p.s. Another thing you could do is to piggyback of the links of your competitors. Check them out and see where they are getting links from? Then see if you can get some from there as well.

I have not tried guest blogging yet. One reason is finding good blogs. It's either a blog that's as low ranking as mine, or it's one of the top motocross sites out there. I haven't checked into press releases a lot because it didn't seem like it would fit my criteria, but I can take another look. I've done blog commenting before, and still do a little bit, but it just doesn't seem like they count towards much, if anything. I've been doing article marketing, profile links (doesn't work very well so I think I'm going to stop), and now I'm trying web 2.0 sites like hubpages, blogger, wordpress to post articles with links to my motocross hideout articles...

Yep, I have looked at what other sites have for links, but most of the high ranking sites are actual stores, so they don't really have links from pages that I can link from.
