Fiverr - Would You Trust Them To Do This?

Hi:

After I created my blog, I concentrated so much on content that I put the actual technical stuff on the back burner. Now I need to tweek my website to make it more attractive and user friendly.

I wanted to use Fiverr.com but they are asking for a temp username and password so that the programmer can have access to my dashboard.

Would you recommend this? I'm thinking - what if someone placed a bug or spyware or something dreadful on my site. Have any of you used Fiverr in this way?

I have not used Fiverr for this and personally I wouldn't. I go to people I know and trust because my blog/sites are my life. I highly recommend Cindy and Rik at http://allqualitywebsites.com/ because I know Cindy and have met her.

Ditto what Angie said. Fiverr is great for things that don't matter in the long run - like graphics and tweaks and edits. But you DEFINITELY get what you pay for - and $5 isn't much!

Alexia, Angie and Kayla Fay are right - you don't want to give some stranger admin access to your site. Especially not someone who is willing to do this kind of work for $5.

But with that said, what is it you need to have done? Perhaps it's not as complicated as you think and you can handle it on your own?

I second and third all the ladies above. Unless you know the person well and have had many transactions with this person, I would not do it. Because its too much too lose and you're right, if it's a savvy tech person with a bad motive, they can easily place some sort of bad code or spyware or worse and you might not even know it.

As Cindy mentioned above, what is it that you seek to have done? Someone here might be able to help you on the spot, depending on what it is.

Thanks for the comments. I knew deep in my gut that it was a bad idea, but sometimes you just need confirmation (LOL). Anyways, I told the Fiverr guy that I was uncomfortable giving out my passwords, etc. and instead asked him to walk me through, in writing, changing some things on my website. He did so graciously, and now I'm all set.

This is such an awesome place to get ideas, brainstorm, and support one another. Once again, thanks!!!

For major stuff I go to known resources (usually the folks here at Clicknewz in the Elite forum)

But I have used Fiverr.com both as a service provider and as a buyer to get things done with good results both ways.

Someone fixed my webpage code to display properly in IE for $5 - I sent them the notepad file, they added the tweaks and sent me a new notepad file back. I uploaded. That way they didn't have any passwords or anything like that. It's definitely great for little tasks here and there.

If i were in the same position I would hire a professional from a bigger freelanicng site like odesk and hire somebody who have lots of positive feedback.However as others say make sure you control everything although you're going to outsource it.
