Affiliate Sites

Hi,

I started to look at affiliate sites - ClickBank.com, CJ.com, and ShareASale.com. I am frozen like a deer in the headlights.

Is one of these the preferred provider?
What types of questions should I be asking myself before signing up?
My greatest fear is not knowing what I don't know (which is a lot)!
Can I make an irreversible mistake?

I am overwhelmed!

I prefer to market products where I have personal knowledge of the quality (either I've used it myself or used other products by the same person/company). So I end up using sites like ClickBank only when a product I like is being sold there - I don't go there looking for products.

My approach has it's limitations though, since I can't buy everything that looks like it might be a good match for my market. I've never been successful with CJ because my approach doesn't get me started fast enough to keep up with their payout requirements. But for me, the advantages still outweigh the disadvantages of making my selections this way. Besides, I can always invest some of the profit from marketing a few products into purchasing some others to consider. And joint venture requests follow success too.

For merchants on sites like ShareASale.com, do they check if my site is established or will they accept quite new sites. I am looking for products to promote but at the moment have very little traffic to speak of, but don't want to miss the oportunity of a sale.

Hi Phil,

until you have a site with traffic, it's a mute point and I wouldn't worry to much about it. Once you have traffic you just go to the places that has the offers that you want to use and are related to your niche. That might mean using multiple affiliate managers..

I use click bank, commission Junction and link share along with a few others that have the offers that I want to present.

it's important to get a site going with traffic that you can use to qualify for these programs. If you can't show a site with traffic then you will be turned down by a lot of affiliate programs.

Yeah first make sure you have a fair amount of knowledge on affiliate marketing and affiliate prgrams.Then st up a site and work in a good niche and then look for products to promote from those affiliate sites.Make sure your site has a steady amount of traffic.
