I have never done the survey thing to make money but I don't think that will be the best use of time to make that amount of money. It's not really a rip off but it's not going to get you where you need to be in that short amount of time.

Hubpages is like Squidoo, it's basically a 'website' that you add content to and do affiliate marketing. That will take time to get traffic and sales.

Got anything to sell on ebay? A garage sale? That would be the fastest money.

Online jobs is a possibility or even freelance work.

    Just some thoughts.

I'm not sure if this is allowed here - Angie, please delete if I've violated a TOS or something - but the best advice I've ever seen on this topic is over at WarriorForum in this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...desperate.html

I find WarriorForum to be a pretty scary place and I don't recommend it normally, but that thread contains some real, actionable steps you can take to raise cash in a hurry.

    Good luck to you.

    Cindy,

WOW that is a really really great resouce. I did get a lot of great ideas and am starting on them.

The first thing that I have been doing is praying. I also believe that God helps those who try to help themselves. Like someone said the harder I work the luckier I get. I ask that you all pray for God to bless my efforts.

I am a retired phone technician. I am printing some business cards (already have the blank cards and ink) and am going to put them everywhere Monday while I am out applying for jobs ( not necessicarily in the same business that I am applying ). I am thinking about setting up a quick informational website and treating it like a new business. I don't know if that will help but I don't think it could hurt.

I have already put a listing on Craig's list and am checking there for jobs and free lance gigs as well.

I am also going to try some of the online things.

dbjbob, sorry to hear about your challenge... you've received great advice here, and I can only offer one other.

The internet, and an internet business, I believe is not your answer for a quick fix. I hope that's not what your
shooting for. If you are, and, in the state you're in, you can fall prey to some pretty tempting financial fixes
    and promises.

If you come across any offers of 'fast money', I can only say, avoid them. It will lead to great disappointment.
I wish you luck. And as far a feeling a little embarrassed, that's absolutely ridiculous. You have nothing to be
embarrassed over. It's happening to young, old, and even governments.

    Take care

    Cliff

    Thanks Cliff,
Both for the kind words and the advice. I think you are right about an internet business being a quick fix and not what I am aiming for at all. I pretty much live by the old adage if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. I will be ok just in a bit of a jam at the moment. But it will pass and I will make it.

    Thanks again,
    Bob

Bob - What are your skill sets? I may be able to put you in touch with a VA service company that outsources some of their work or others seeing it here may be able to use your skills too.

That Warrior post lists a lot of good resources and it sounds like you're making headway too with the part time job. Way more people than ever admit it have been where you are, myself included keep us posted and don't forget to list yourself in the services thread on this forum too.
