    Default Squiddo

    Does anyone use Squiddo?

It's suppose to be a good way to get backlinks...but it seems like a lot of work - basically maintaining two sites. My blog...AND a Squiddo lens. (...unless I'm missing something?!)

Squidoo is a great site to put articles on. But, they have to come from you and not be anywhere else on the net. Squidoo has a program that actually looks for any part of an article that is anywhere on the net, so if you have one somewhere else and try to rewrite it, you most likely will get the lense locked. The one thing that draws a lot of people to Squidoo is that it is a revenue sharing site and if you are a very good lense maker, you can actually make a decent amount of money.

You might look up Tiffany Dow. She has some great info on Squidoo.

Do you have sales lenses? Or content lenses?

For content lenses, in order to make any money, you need to get into tier 1 (or at least 2), and that take a lot of work.

Sales lenses make money a lot easier.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to use squidoo for the purpose of building backlinks for a website. No doubt it's got a good authority rank over the web, but since there are so many users posting articles/content on different niche, a backlink from its pages would be considered to niche oriented incoming links.

Yeah, if you wish to monetize the content that you post to its lens, no harm with that.

I tried working on Squidoo to gain benefits for our webhosting business site, and after posting a couple of articles there I realized that it didn't pass too much value to our site.

If you actually wish to attract benefits for your website by building backlinks, try identifying the website that accept guest posts, it's more fruitful imho. than posting in Squidoo.

I agree with Barb. Squidoo is really not the best site to be using if you're building backlinks for your blog. It's difficult to be maintaining two sites since in Squidoo you need to create original and quality content as well. Try to focus more on submitting your site to directories, social bookmarking site, and build backlink on blogs of the same niche as your blog. Guest posting to a site with the similar niche and has a higher page rank than yours is a good way to get other readers to notice you, plus you get to create a backlink to your site, which actually really counts.

I haven't had a lot of luck with Squidoo. I have heard that to do well there you need to be interactive and comment, etc on other lenses and be part of the community. I have built some lenses just for the fun of it mostly.
