Quick Question if I may about product promotion and blogging

Hi all. I haven't been around for awhile but I am going to try to come back more frequently. I just had a question. I am getting back into blogging and promoting affiliate products. I was just wondering if you should promote something with every post or one every three, etc. What works for you? Also, do you mix it up with banners and text links in your post or just one or the other?

Also, I am getting about 2000-2400 visitors a day now on my main blog but am not making much in the way of affiliate income. I know I probably should be because that sounds like a pretty good number of visitors to me. I guess that is why I am trying to figure out how often to promote products and set up some sort of strategy. Any tips would help.
