Can I successfully add an affiliate concept to an existing blog?

Without seeing your blog it is not easy to say but why not go through a few of your recent posts and look for ways of including an affiliate link?

That will show you how to do it in forthcoming posts.

If you are happy with the progress of your blog then why change it? Just use good products as offers to email subscribers and readers.

Remember people may find your blog on any of your posts - they are not all going to find your latest post when they click through from the search engine, so going through all your past posts and putting appropriate links there is important.

A redesign could be used as a tool to say we are really taking things seriously here now and so check out all these new features etc etc

Or building a funnel is something that Nicole Dean of Nicole on the Net made me passionate about. By having an entry point where you can introduce affiliate link through product reviews etc and then lead them into the funnel where they are keen to learn, buy and promote for you.

You can have lots of funnels leading into your current site and into your potential new sites.

Have your plan mapped out on paper so you know where they are going to go each step of the way.

Hi Todd, I agree with Alex 100%. I'd find relevant product and services that you would sincerely recommend and go back and sprinkle links into your old posts where appropriate. To get the biggest bang for your time, figure out your top 10-15 articles by popularity and do those first.

Since you provide "free information and training" to your audience, consider starting to formulate you own product that you think people might pay for. Ebook, training course, or whatever. You might find that will be a substantial moneymaker.

There's definitely no need to reinvent the wheel. If you've got a passionate audience just start including affiliate links here and there, create a few product recommendation pages, etc.... when you find the right products to promote to your target market they will blend seamlessly into your site and your plans.

Exactly: I do this all the time on my existing blogs/sites.

At the end of the month, I go and check which pages got the most visitors during that month (in my cpanel, or Google analitycs), and then go to those pages, and make sure they are monetized properly.

This way, each month I am making sure my top visited pages are making me money.
