Okay, this is probably a silly, obvious question, but it just hit me today. I have several products that I am referring to continously in my posts on TheShrinkingMommy.com and I have been linking out to the affiliate pages for those products.
But, in the next week or so I'm going to be posting full reviews of those products - should I then keep linking out to the affiliate pages when I refer to them in my posts, or should I link to my review of that product which then would point them out to the affiliate product?
Shannon,
I would probably do both. If you refer to the review at all in any of those posts, link to the review of that product using a keyword phrase but also link out to affiliate products. I think a mix but I am interested in hearing more feedback too. Great question!
I usually do both. The review is going to pre-sell your visitor which is really helpful. So I offer the review link as well if they're interested in getting my overview of the product before visiting the merchant.
Also, if you're trying to get your review ranking well you'll want those optimized internal links.
I usually link to the review early in the post, and to the affiliate page as a call to action. My thinking is that the search engines get to the internal link first, and sees it as most important. I'm most interested in my reader making a purchase, so that's the last thing they read - and hopefully is a logical next step. If they click over to the review page, they still get a call to action at the end.
