My trip to Vegas was absolutely incredible. I flew out to attend an event hosted by Brad Fallon called Inner Mastermind. It was basically a small group of top internet marketers that met to discuss a specific strategy & upcoming product.
I'll confess that I didnt attend the actual session, which is pretty much the norm for me. I went with a few key objectives, all of which I achieved in a fairly short amount of time.
I managed to do a little gambling, drinking and dancing too - which is not the norm π . That's beside the point really (unless it shows up on YouTube).
Speaking of YouTube, I have a couple of video clips to share with you...
As you can see we were goofing off a bit, but the three of us actually accomplished quite a bit that day. Ross Goldberg and I were discussing his upcoming release (which I am involved in) and Tom Bell introduced me to a new (and very exciting!) opportunity. Tom is in video production and works with Shawn Casey, by the way.
I also had an interesting conversation with Joel Ownby who works with Joel Comm in his Loveland, CO office. Joel and I talked about the Top 1% product, and he gave me the idea to consider approaching Joel Comm with my software product as a JV. Something to consider at least.
I talked to Matt Bredel over lunch, and we explored ways we could work together. We're going to talk further on that today actually. I also ran into my old friend Mike Merz, who gave me a formal introduction to Michael Cheney, and had a quick talk with Joel Christopher.
Julie Perry and I compared notes, and caught up with all that's new since we last saw each other (at StomperNet Live6). We talked YouTube marketing, upcoming events, our current interests and of course potential opportunities.
One of the highlights of this particular event was meeting Jason Moffatt in person -finally. Jason and I have known each other for several years now. Since he first got into internet marketing in fact. He did a live broadcast from the event where he mentions that, by the way.
Jason really impressed me with his integrity and values, and his stance on Internet Marketing in general. Somewhere along the way I had made the assumption that he'd moved over to "the dark side" π ... but I was wrong. We talked about the industry as a whole, the direction it is taking, and it was interesting to get his perspective on all of that.
Jason inspired me to be more aggressive with my marketing, while still maintaining my reputation for truth and quality. It was nice to pick his brain for a change. π
All in all it was a fabulous trip, and well worth the time invested. But it didnt end when I left the Venetian. It turns out that PubCon was going on in Vegas at the same time, and I got seated behind two people leaving PubCon on my flight home.
Interestingly they are both in the Nashville area which is just 90 minutes from me, so I managed to make two new local friends while on the opposite coast! We got on a real roll swapping ideas and resources... until we were asked to be quiet as it was a red-eye flight and everyone else was trying to sleep. To which Grant replied (nice and loud I might add): "You people shouldnt be complaining - you should be taking notes!" haha...
We talked about competitive intelligence, transparency of the current & future web, the latest roll-outs from Google, video optimization for 2009 - and of course: Twitter.
I'll share more details from the trip with you in upcoming posts, so be sure to subscribe for updates. You can subscribe by RSS of course, or use the blue box in the right sidebar to subscribe to weekly updates by email.
Best,
p.s. I managed to call in for the weekly podcast when I first arrived in Vegas. Jeff Walker joined us as a special guest, and we discussed "Product Launches: The Demise of the Internet Marketing Industry". You can listen in at www.InternetMarketingThisWeek.com. Be sure to subscribe by iTunes before Tuesday (Nov 18th) - Ed Dale & Paul Colligan have something special in store for those that do!
That looked and sounded like allot of fun!, this should be great information for us all;).

Lynn,
It was so great to catch up with you in Vegas! I'm really excited about all the great stuff you've got coming up and especially excited to begin catching you, Michelle, Ed, and Paul every Thursday for the http://www.InternetMarketingThisWeek.com podcast. That's going to be FANTASTIC (and has been awesome thus far)!
Haha...And I'm happy to see Ross gave credit where credit is due (because goodness knows he would NOT have won that money had I not been sitting next to him π LOL).
Keep up the greatness, Lynn!

Thank you Julie! It was great to see you there, and I am also excited about your current projects. Tons of opportunity everywhere lately it seems - love it!
LOL Janis - I really wish I would have recorded that entire conversation on the plane. Good stuff! Thank goodness for pen & paper and memory π
Hey Lynn, Thanks so much for sharing the information about the innermastermind and meeting Jason Moffatt. Yours was the only email I have opened today. I will join your weekly broadcast so I can get a few more glimpses into the new ideas and directions for internet marketing.
