I have a quick video clip to share with you this weekend, taken oceanside on the Mornington Peninsula in Australia. I landed here 2 days ago, for a two-week vacation. A working vacation that is π
The video was taken with a mobile phone, and is a quick shot of me "eating noodles on the back of a ute"...
I am absolutely amazed at how beautiful it is here in Australia, with the sun setting into the ocean being at the top of my list. This was definitely worth the 30-something hour travel time that it took me to get here. Incredible.
While here I am visiting friends, enjoying some downtime, and also working. I have several guest posts lined up for you, so watch for those in the coming days. In between those posts, I'll share videos and photos and quick updates with you.
Be sure to follow me on Twitter for the latest π
Ah ah funny =)
It looks like a wonderful place π
Cute Lynn! I bet it's beautiful there and I'm so glad you are getting to experience it. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
Very cool, Lynn - thanks for posting and sharing that video with us!
'Ute' - that's funny - so does that mean 'truck' or just 'pick up truck'?
Kinda cool you'll be meeting Ed Dale on his home turf! Will you be anywhere near Steve Irwin's Zoo?
I want to go there so bad.
If I had the money I would be there right now, but soon enough. Enjoy it for us all!
Now there's a food post John Chow never made. π
As I'm reading in my classroom, for some reason (school server?), the video portion of your message is not available. Regardless, I'm very happy for you. Your sentiments remind me of my trip to Hawaii. Nice to break away from home from time to time. Fresh perspectives and thanks and all that, eh mate?

Awesome, Australia is definitely a place I want to get to someday.
cool, Lynn, and do the toilets really flush backwards?? Is Bart Simpson right? Or is that just a myth, LOL?
What a wonderful Blue Planet we have, all the way around!
Have a terrific time...
Best for now, Mary
Welcome to Australia Lynn!
I hope you can spend some time Up North too, its well worth the trip.
Steve's "Australia Zoo" is in a place called Beerwah, Queensland (about 10 minutes from where I am typing!) so not near where Lynn is presently.
A "ute" is a truck with a tray at the back, so doesn't just refer to all generic trucks.
Enjoy your holiday Lynn, it may have taken 30 hours but its probably a bit warmer than where you have come from!
Cheers
Inger
They've got birds, too!? π
Great video, thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you made it safe and sound.
Karen
Hi Lynn,
May I please welcome you to my part of the world -- Aussie -- I'm really chuffed that you're here !! -- In particular, I'm delighted to notice you're sharing some of our unique features with your readers. I live North of where you're visiting ( are you in Melbourne ?) .The Mornington Peninsula is a delightful area(that is of course if you have to live in Melbourne !!)
Needless to say, I live further North (abt 1.5 freeway hours North of Sydney,on Beautiful Lake Macquarie which is bigger than Sydney Harbour)
For Lisa Maree Mary's info. a Ute is the equivalent of your pick-up truck (Aussie Blokes drive Utes !! -- according to the Ads.) And Steve Irwin's Zoo is in Queensland -- a long way North in our wonderful country.
And for Mary Gallagher --- what's all this about WATER in our loos ?? --- Downunder it's a hole in the ground !! --- and we Aussies are renowned as great leg-pullers !! I've heard there are some flash places that have "water-loos" -- and I understand one should close the lid and put a firm foot on it because the water and contents spurt UP ! (Is it different in the US of A ?)
Again Lynn a Big Hearty Welcome to the Land Down Under. Have a great break . Enjoy.
In case it doesn't show --- I'm excited for you.
Aveagooday !! Doug.
Hi Lynn,
I just returned from a 2 week trip to New Zealand where it's even more beautiful:-) so make sure you visit there as well...you'll be glad you did.
Go go Lynn! We love you! More food reviews would make it really nice! Photos of the sunset would be great too!!!!
Herman - I am too π New Zealand is definitely on the list!
Doug - thank you, great to meet you! Even if I am a bit late with the reply *sigh*. I must admit, your "toilets" were quite interesting. Half flush, whole flush, buttons and such - but the fact that they arent even in the bathroom is what stumped me the most! π
