Happy New Year! -Year End Note…

2009 was an amazing year! I started this year feeling somewhat frustrated, but definitely determined.
Determined enough to make things happen.

One of my primary goals was to find better ways to help people start and run a successful online business. To publish better content, in more formats, that would make a real difference. And to reach more people with it.

You played a big part in making that happen - Thank you! Thank you for your comments, which often helped me come up with new topics to write about. Thank you for the links, and for telling your friends & groups about ClickNewz.

Thank you for being here, reading along and working alongside me as we all worked towards our goals. I have a great feeling about 2010 and am super excited about going into this New Year together...

In 2009 I set out to get a better handle on outsourcing. Never one of my strong points. While I have always either had employees or virtual assistants, managing it was my issue. And for the most part, you could say I was running solo, and basically out-tasking. Not ideal. This year I did get a handle on it, and I have put together an incredible team - with the help of some very good friends.

That has made a huge difference for me, and allowed me to accomplish more than ever this past year. I'll work on putting together a list and making sure I have everyone's permission, and I'll share the sources with you in an upcoming post.

I just ordered a 13" Macbook Pro this week, I'll be launching a super cool new site in early 2010 (this month if all goes well!), and I will be traveling the world while increasing traffic and income dramatically this year.

And of course I'm going to share everything with you along the way. πŸ˜‰

Speaking of the Macbook, talk of this has really caused a stir across my social networks - LOL. Many people made the comment that I've come over "to the dark side" so I decided to go all the way with that one! That's right, I'm no longer a blonde - for now at least. πŸ˜›

You can check it out in this new Mail Video I put out last night, and hear my reasons for the Mac purchase too:

Funny that Ed Dale is getting all the credit for my Mac purchase (lol), but just to clarify - I have no plans of switching over. I purchased it specifically for mobile video editing, to help me achieve a very specific 2010 goal (which you'll understand when I reveal my new website). As always, I stick by my mantra of "buy what you need, when you need it, to achieve what you are trying to do right now." Buy nothing more, and buy nothing less, and stay focused. But that's just me.

Other exciting news for the year ahead: I have taken on 2 sponsors for the year 2010. Both of those sponsorships sold before 10am the morning I published the offer, but I intend to keep it limited to only 2 for now as I did this with a specific objective. I handpicked the sponsors from all the early entries, and will be working closely with both of them throughout the year in a mutually beneficial relationship.

You'll be hearing more about them in coming posts, but I won't keep you in suspense - the 2010 ClickNewz Sponsors are Nicole Dean of Easy PLR and Rachel Rofe of Burn Your To Do List. Both of which are very much in line with my "work less, make more!" mindset. I look forward to sharing more with you about them in the coming weeks and months, and giving you an opportunity to get to know them and everything that they offer.

I will also be doing some Featured Blog Posts here on ClickNewz in the New Year. This is another sponsorship opportunity, on the post level, and I am very excited about working personally with each of these sponsors. It gives me an opportunity to find people and products I wouldn't have otherwise, and to bring you even more interesting content and detailed reviews.

Each of these Featured Posts will be disclosed with a statement that defines my relationship with the sponsor, and you can expect my usual candid thoughts and honest reviews. If you're interested in being featured in a spotlight here on ClickNewz, see my New Year Sponsor Special and get in touch with me ASAP.

January spots are filling up fast! πŸ˜‰

I started out with the intention of just writing you a quick note, but so much is going on that I wanted to share with you. I'd love to hear what's going on with you as we close out 2009, and what you are most looking forward to in 2010.

We were talking about this on Facebook earlier this month and I so enjoyed the responses there! That was on the ClickNewz Facebook Page, and I also have a personal profile there as well - I would love to be connected with you in the New Year if we're not already.

Leave a comment below and tell us the ONE thing that was monumental for you this year with your online business...

  1. Hi Lynn...

Great to hear from you again. Congrats on the accomplishments and decisions you made. I wish you the best.

One thing you mentioned was very important. Plan your buying. When you buy.. Buy when you need it... Buy for a reason.. And put it to use right away.

    My best to you ..

    Joe

  2. Katherine Reschke says

I really love how much you have stepped out of your comfort zone this year and how dynamic that has made you. Will enjoy watching your increased success in 2010 (whilst also charting my own success of course!)

Happy New Year and even better New Decade.

    Katherine Reschke

    • Thank you Katherine! I look back over the last 5 years and I am amazed at how the time has transformed me. I used to be quite introverted and kept myself positioned outside the radar intentionally for many years.

People who meet me now have a hard time believing that πŸ˜›

@GinaParris and I were talking about this over lunch just yesterday. We were discussing hiring coaches and the concept of "finding yourself". I told her "I finally found myself, and I didn't like what I found - so I decided to create myself!" lol.

      • Henrik Flensborg says

I still remember some of the pm's we exchanged on the old SSWT forum, so yeah; you've made quite a transformation in the years I've been "stalking" you.

        Thank you for being you.

I have two pieces of paper taped to the wall behind my computer from when I was publishing Growth Focus as a regular email newsletter - lot's of the quotes there are from you.

Just writing about it now makes me think about reviving it.

        • I remember those conversations - and in the midst of my discomfort at the starting point of huge changes that unfolded... You were such a great friend and peer, Henrik - thank you!

Are you seriously thinking about reviving Growth Focus this year??

          • Henrik Flensborg says

Yeah, I've been thinking about reviving it.

I am again at a point in my life where it feels like the right thing to do - and it felt sooo good writing those newsletter issues.

My SEO newsletter back then was useful, but Growth Focus was helpful.

  3. Lynn:

The most momumental thing that has happen to me in 2009 was discovering ClickNewz. I had made a decision in the last quarter of 2009 to research this mystical thing that is known as Internet Marketing to determine if it were truely possible "for me" to earn an extra income.

At first I was only finding the "to good to be true" gurus, but I pressed on and came upon Rosiland Gardner, Warrior Forum and You.

As I sit hear preparing to roll into 2010, I have done my keyword search and purchased my first domain names and will be registering them with Hostgater today.

Still mucn to learn, but as I sit here today I am confident I can and will make money online. Thanks for being an example and inspiration!!

And finally a New Year Toast: Here's to your continued success in 2010!! Happy New Year Lynn!

    Glyn Erwin

    • Thank you Glyn - Happy New Year to you! πŸ˜€

You have made incredible progress, and I love hearing about that! Taking action is key, and you are obviously ready to really move forward with your goals. Way to go!

For HostGator, don't forget to use the coupon code to get your first money for only 1c: http://www.clicknewz.com/hostgator code: wordpress

That link is my referral link, and is one of the main sources that allows me to continue to blog tutorials for free week after week. HostGator is of course hosting ClickNewz as well - you'll love them! πŸ˜‰

  4. I am constantly looking up to you, Lynn for new ideas and inspiration. More than anyone else whose work I am interested in, you strike me as down to earth and "one of us" and that is much appreciated. I have learned tons from you over the years and this coming 2010, I hope to finally apply some of your advice and work towards the goals I am setting for myself and my site πŸ™‚
Happy New Year to you and your family!
    All the best,
    Biki

    • Thank you, Biki - Happy New Year to you as well! I really enjoy this community, and that we all have this opportunity to interact and really get to know each other. Very much looking forward to the coming year πŸ˜€

  5. Closing out 2009 today with some goal writing for 2010 along with an editorial calendar. This past year was my best yet (towards the end, last quarter) when it came to online business. As you know I do a variety of things and I have found that I really enjoy certain types of VA work and that I can feel confident offering those services if I need to in the future. But I am most thankful for your elite group where I found an awesome accountability partner and that has made all the difference in the world in my business.

In 2010, I look forward to stepping out of my comfort zone by writing more and using video Yikes!

Today Kev and I celebrate 13 wonderful years and so I have been reflecting on how thankful I am for him and things I want to accomplish that will make his life easier.

Lynn, thank you for all you have done for me and so many others. You really are an amazing person who I'm very thankful for. Oh and I'm not sure I know what mobile video editing actually is but I look forward to finding out.

Happy New Year and see you in a few short weeks!

    • Happy Anniversary!! Kevin is such a catch, and you are as well - you're both super lucky to have each other. πŸ˜‰

I am really excited about seeing you again in a few weeks, and glad we're rooming together in Atlanta. Can't wait! And I'll show you the new toy and tell you all about it while we're there. πŸ™‚

Thank you for everything this year! I really appreciate you!

  6. Great way to close of the year!

    Nice video too πŸ™‚

  7. I've just had this domain. I look forward to starting a successful online business in 2010. I want to share my ideas and experience with others about how to communicate best in their life. I'm still a novice in managing business online so I need help.
    thank you

  8. Lynn, I am so thankful to know you, and to have shared some pretty special moments with you while rooming together.

2009 hasn't been the best year for me, but in the last quarter I've taken steps toward making my life better. And because of that, and the guidance and example you give, 2010 will be the best year yet.

    Thanks for being you!

    • You are still my FPOE, Adriana - I love you to pieces πŸ˜€ I am really glad we had those opportunities too, and look forward to more in the future!

You made an amazing turn-around in this last quarter. It was very inspiring to watch it unfold and to be even a tiny bit involved in it. It will be fun to watch your business grow like crazy in 2010 now that you have made such dramatic changes!

  9. Hi Lynn and Happy New Year to you and your tweens πŸ™‚ I have to say that finding the niche that I know well and can relate too was one of the biggest things to happen for me in 2009. Now thanks to you, I feel much more prepared to do something about it, have well defined goals, make more money, and become a market leader in this industry - so excited for what's to come in 2010.

As for the predictions piece, not sure if you completed your thoughts on the IMTW podcast about the low-cost info. products. I particularly plan to use it in conjunction with other income streams. I guess it's about having a sound business model and delivering value more than anything, no? πŸ™‚

Nonetheless, thanks for all that you share with us, I truly, truly appreciate it.

    • Thank you Kimmoy! Yes, a solid business model and adding value in your market are definitely key - and you are definitely nailing down those details πŸ˜‰ I look forward to brainstorming more with you this year and continuing to work with and alongside you!

  10. Hi Lynn! Happy New Year!

I started my website this year. This is something I have wanted to do for a couple of years. I saw your name on Bob the Teacher's top 10 people and boy was he right. You truly provide information we can get our hands on.

Now, I will be working towards making a profit with your guidance.

    Thanks so much!
    Gwyn

    • Thank you Gwyn - Bob offers tremendous value himself! It was a real honor to be included on his list. Congrats on starting your website in 2009. Here's to a successful 2010! *cheers*

  11. You've stimulated our curiosity and got us guessing, Lynn. MacBook Pro for video editing + "traveling the world". Hmm. Sort of reminds me of last year when Cali Lewis & co. were going to buy a motor home and webcast from all 50 states. I think gas prices scuttled that idea. I'm sure your project will be more fruitful. I'll certainly be following and wishing you the best with it.

    • Well, you added the the Twitter ID capability since I last commented and I entered it wrong. This one fixes it. BTW, I'm guessing you used the TwitterLink plugin.

  12. Nell Taliercio says

    Lynn,

You're truly a special person and a blessing for the Internet Marketing community. One of the only people I respect and trust in this industry.

Every industry should have a Lynn Terry!

    Happy New Year,
    Nell Taliercio

    • Very kind words - thank you Nell πŸ˜€

I truly enjoy the work that I do both here and at the SSWT community. Really looking forward to taking it to new levels this year.

      Happy New Year!

  13. MariaGudelis says

Hey Lynn! It was a nice 'find' to get recommended to you in the last few weeks by Tina Williams and love your energy and desire to share!

Great on the Mac...I will be buying one as well this month for similar reasons - videos, travel, fun and new things to explore...and not to 'switch over' but to have both PC's and Macs!

Looking forward to get to know you better in 2010!

    Cheers, Maria

    • Looking forward to it as well, Maria - I will have to give a thank you to Tina when I see her in Atlanta in a few weeks πŸ˜‰

I look forward to hearing your thoughts once you settle in with your new Mac. I should be getting mine soon, and look forward to adding it to the 'family'!

  14. What was monumental for me was several things actually, but it all boils down to... my change of "MINDSET". Realizing... No, wait... "Accepting" the FACT that, hard work, persistence, patients, willingness to fail-trip-fall and get back up... Never quit! "Screw this up, mess that up... Oh Crap what was I thinking" in order to learn for myself what NOT to do...in order to learn what "to" do!

Guess what? I'll mess-up some more too! But that will lead me to "Doing it Right". This past year I have been nearly house-bound due to my hip, SO, out of determination, (and having nothing else to do) I kept trying, failing, and trying again until I got it right! -Note- The History Channel got old after the first year πŸ˜›

In just over 3 weeks from now, I'll have my "Hip Replacement" surgery (yes, I'm WAY too young for this but it happens - never quit, right?), and in the late spring or early summer I'll have some money to invest in myself for the sake of my kids and family...FFWD...

Glad I've had YOU Lynn to "Retrain My MindSet" to NOT spend money on every cool new trick info or software that passes by coz there IS NO short cut! Keep on Keeping on, and keep on putting forth "Effort" has payed off "for ME" EVERY TIME!

Remember that video that CJ and I did back in july? And just yesterday my Blog with only "9" posts on it got Google PR-2!

    My Point:
"Consistent - don't stop keep going" is what works. "Getting rich by next month" was the WRONG way of thinking! Speaking of...

"Read Between The Lines and...THINK!" -Gary Anderson II

    G.

P.S. Thanks for telling Ed that you got the Mac coz of me, not him πŸ˜› (just kidding - you know I can't help myself!).

    • LOL - nobody has even mentioned that it might all be inspired by Michelle MacPhearson. *ahem* The hair didn't give it away?! LOL πŸ˜›

You're on a roll, Gary - keep on keeping on!

  15. Lexi Rodrigo says

    Hi Lynn,

You're so welcome for the card! Isn't it uncanny that I picked the green card for you?

Anyway, I hope you'll like your Macbook Pro. If you'll be FTPing videos to Amazon S3 then you absolutely have to get Transmit, a software that makes FTP as easy as clicking and dragging files in Windows Explorer. It even makes using Amazon S3 much easier.

Happy New Year, Lynn. Let's rock 2010!

    Lexi

  16. My most monumental accomplishment in 2009 was being one of the first 100 people to complete writing 100 articles in 100 days. It was stressful but well worth it...rankings, traffic and customers increased. I'm going for the next challenge starting Jan 1st 2010 - April 10th 2010. Instead of investing advertising dollars I invest my time. I hope I still have some hair left by the end:-)

  17. BTW Lynn...thanks for all your webinars.
I wish you and your family a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

  18. Happy New Year Lynn,

Wishing you all the best in 2010. Me, I'm about to roll up on 2 years in the world of blogging. My head spins from all that I have learned and still so much more on the horizon. I've jumped off the "free" sites and found freedom from the move that I never imagined. It is uncharted waters in some ways but I'm learning to navigate them.

I look forward to adventures in blogging and the new directions it will take me. The very cool thing about owning your own business is that you get to take chances, calculated or not, groom the relationships you want and not have every move dictated. It is an awesome thing to fire off an email or a tweet to seek the advice of peers, friends and outright strangers.

Here is to having fun, chasing our dreams, being adventureous, courageous and somehow finding success along the way. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with all of us.

    Ginger

    • Well said, Ginger πŸ˜‰ It's an exciting time to be blogging, marketing and working online... both fun AND profitable. Here's to an amazing 2010, and the start of an incredible decade!

  19. Happy New Year, Lynn and all!

Lynn, your success is so inspiring to me, I love reading your updates. Good luck for all your 2010 plans, sure you''ll do awesome as always πŸ™‚

My most monumental change in 2009 was finally getting focused! Joining your SSWT forum has been an incredible help. I feel I finally have a mastermind group who I can succeed with!

I realized last night that I am exactly where I want to be for maybe the first time in my life. Things are looking great, and now it's time to focus fully on my business.
Big plans for 2010. This is gonna be a big (life-changing!) year for me. I won't have it any other way! πŸ˜‰

All the best to you and your family, Lynn!

    See ya at NAMS
    Nicole (Ms N)

    • Isn't it a great feeling?! πŸ˜€ I look forward to meeting you in Atlanta in a few weeks, and to working alongside you in our group this year. Here's to life-changing success and happiness! *cheers*

  20. Clay Franklin says

Congratulations on a great year Lynn!
Based on your advice, I have been writing on my blog more and have increased the traffic, page rank, search results, and the quality of my posts.
The Macbook pro 13" ROCKS! I love the bright screen. You may want to get the green clear snap on cover for it to protect the aluminum and have a Laptop in your favorite color.
Thank you so much for all the great advice in 2009.

    • Thank you, and you're welcome! You have really put in the groundwork to have an awesome year in 2010. I look forward to watching you turn it into exactly what you want it to be.

p.s. I think you should win "the most educated man in the industry" award for 2009! πŸ˜€

  21. Good to hear that.

I wish you the best for 2010, and looking forward to learn from you.

  22. Lisa Marie Mary says

The ONE thing that was monumental for me this year was recommitting myself to MyVeryOwnMail.com. And it feels good, too! As it is the business that is my heart and that started my online journey in the first place. Knowing that I can recommit to it without being painted into a corner is so exciting and so freeing! I don't have to go in just one direction with it - there are options! And I don't have to completely drop my other things to do it, just stick them on the back burner for a bit. I'm PUMPED!

    • That was such an exciting brainstorming session, Lisa - and wow, you have made some serious progress with that since you took it off the back burner and brought it back to the forefront! I can't wait to see you bump the competition out of their top spot πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€

  23. Carol Ann Quibell says

Happy New Year from the wet coast. What a difficult year 2009 was for many people including myself. However, it was also the year I took more control of my life and started my new VA business and have enjoyed it immensely. I also learned about Affiliate Marketing which I am enthralled with and am learning something new about it every day. I tell my friends that my Elite Membership is like receiving a University degree for a low cost. A year ago I didn't even know what a VA was, had no concept of internet marketing or affiliate marketing and now I talk about them as if I am a pro, which I am not but have every intention of continuing my learning process. M y goal for 2010 is to have a successful Affiliate marketing business and create a steady income from it. Thank Lynn and group for all of your help and information. I am grateful for everyone of you.
PS: The article writing challenge? How do I find out where to get involved?

    Happy New Year everyone.

    • Taking control of life, instead of letting IT control you - it's a powerful thing. That was a hard transition for me years ago, and I doubt it's any easier for anyone else. I do think I was a bit slower about it than some though - LOL.

Congrats to you on digging in and taking action on your goals and ideas! I often see some of life's biggest challenges, or the worst years... in hindsight, as the best turning points in my life. It sounds like you've made good of what could have turned into bad times!

On article marketing, they're referring to Jeff Herring's program and challenge. You can learn more about him in these recent posts:

  24. Carol Ann Quibell says

Thanks Lynn, I have committed to 100 articles! I can do it. It is definitely for a good reason and important. Also good for staying focused. Have a great day everyone. It's going to be an exciting year.

  25. Karen McGreevey from Kittens 'n Things says

Happy New Year, Lynn, and thank you for sharing your year-end and 2010 "new beginnings" musings!

Although I have been (and continue to be) a Virtual Assistant, for now I'm changing my "blogging focus" to "furry felines." Having been the "cat mom" (currently to four) for years and years, I know I can speak from several points of view.

Besides, I saw a "kitten" template for a website early on this year, and later found a matching WP blog that I just knew I had to do something with. πŸ™‚ "The Boys" (our cats) would never have forgiven me if I hadn't.

In 2010, I'll continue to search for and post on cat blogs and cat forums. Kindred cats and their "beans" have begun commenting now and then (yay!) at my blog, and I've answered some "cat specific" questions at Yahoo Answers...in fact, a couple have been chosen as "best answer!" Which proved to be a really "good feeling" boost.

Thanks to your voice in the back of my head (from listening to you over these last many months) and then coincidentally, this part of your post today:

β€œbuy what you need, when you need it, to achieve what you are trying to do right now.”

I saved a good bit of money today. And I knew I made the right decision.

Here's to a fantastic 2010 for us all!

    • That sounds like a perfect niche project for you, Karen! Congrats on going with your passion and also keeping your focus on your primary business model at the same time. I look forward to seeing where you take this in 2010!

  26. Duane Ford says

    Hi Lynn,
Of all the people I've encountered in the world of "Internet Marketing,"
you are one of two or three who have managed to get and keep my attention.
Your helpful friendly style and forthright recommendations are very much appreciated. I hope to be "around" a lot more this year. 2009 was a strange one for me.
I just wanted to thank you for being you and to wish you the very best in 2010.

    Duane

  27. Web Design Gold Coast says

    Hi Lynn

I hope the new year and the new hair doesn't change you πŸ™‚ Keep up the good work! I totally love your blog, your style and the community you've created and are creating. I hope one day to be able to contribute more, but for now I guess I'll just keep reading and commenting.

    Happy New Year everyone!

  28. Thanks Lynn, for this wonderful post, I started this year 2009 with lots of hope, planning and strategy in online business, I didnt really know if I could get any success or not. But at the end of the year its quite succeeded and more and lots more thinking and strategy for 2010. I started my site from June 15th but there was very few visitor coz of I didnt have that minimum knowledge of SEO or Internet Marketing, but somehow by searching and researching I just got optimized my Friendship Day page for August 2nd, and I got a unique visitor of 10000, my page impression on July 31st was 5,097 and on 1st August it reached 35,212.. wow that was really a turning point and remarkable day. I just analysis my own seo strategies and till now I am following those.. I have learned a lot after I joined and start commenting in your blog, the those back-links from clicknewz helped me a vast way in serp. Thanks to you for sharing those valuable ideas and knowledge with us.

I hope you and the all commentators here have a prosperous 2010.. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you Sudeep. What a great first year! It feels good to see results like that, doesn't it - and what a way to get motivated and look for ways to duplicate that success πŸ˜‰
