I spent the weekend in Atlanta at the
Niche Affiliate Marketing Workshop
hosted by David Perdew. This is the 4th time I've attended and taught at "NAMS", and I'll be doing it again in January 2011.
I was unsure if I would be teaching again at NAMS-5, but I left yesterday knowing without a doubt that I would not miss the January event...
(If you're at all interested in attending, you should click here and grab your ticket now - there's an incredible special offer that is still live, until David catches it!)
If you're a regular reader here then you know I struggled with major lifestyle changes this summer, which had a dramatic impact on my routine and my motivation. I say motivation, but I see it now more as my energy level. I just didn't have the energy to put as much into my business, or anything really, for awhile.
Going to this live event totally re-energized me.
I wasn't alone, either. This weekend was the dose of inspiration and motivation for a lot of us that attended. I saw lightbulbs going off, a-ha moments, relief, excitement, and even tears of gratitude across the crowd. There were about 200 of us together for the weekend, and it was an incredible experience.
The NAMS events are limited to ~200 every time, and the 5th workshop in January will be no exception. That's because it is a hands-on workshop, where you can get a lot more personal instruction and personal attention than the typical conference or seminar.
I taught 3 workshop sessions at the event, and also lead a private (unrecorded) mastermind session alongside Nicole Dean with the Advanced group.
As you can see in the photo at the top left, the workshops are offered to smaller groups - broken down by both levels and topics. In that particular session with the Intermediate group there were only 30-40 people in the room.
This opens up the opportunity to do in-depth Q&A with the instructors, and also to brainstorm as a group. It's a unique set-up for a live event, and an incredibly productive format.
I taught affiliate site models, the various opportunities for affiliate marketers, affiliate marketing basics, and how you can position yourself in the marketplace.
In my last session with the Beginner group, Bob "the teacher" Jenkins and I did detailed site reviews of niche affiliate sites together. This proved incredibly helpful for those who were still trying to get a handle on how things are put together, and what affiliate sites look like.
I actually sat in on a few sessions myself when I wasn't teaching or helping. I took a class in one of the Beginners rooms (ha!), where Bob taught mind mapping.
I downloaded iThoughtsHD on my iPad right there in the session, and created my very first mind map. ever. π I've never been into mind maps so much, but it's actually pretty cool on a touch screen.
That wasn't the only thing I learned at NAMS 4 either. I left there anxious to get home and get straight to work on my own affiliate sites, implementing some things I picked up. I'm glad to be back, and especially glad to be back at a place where I feel so inspired and motivated...

Best,
p.s. NAMS always sells out months in advance due to the limited number of tickets, so you'll want to grab a ticket now if you want to join us in January!
I haven't been able to attend NAMS...YET. However, I did download the keyword research panel you did with Susanne Myers, Karon Thackston and Dan Morris the other day.
It was great to get a sneak peek into NAMS and be able to learn a few tips from the pros from home. I was truly impressed!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Angie - that was a fun session to do live. I would really love to meet you at a future NAMS event! π
The recording Angie is referring to can be found at:

Hi
That's a cool feature with the name & keywords. Hope I did it correctly!
NAMS sounds more like a weekend workshop than a traditional seminar.
The difference between the two generally being the amount of pitch-fests that the audience is subjected to during the event.
I really would like to attend in January, if work & family commitments allow!
It's a plugin called KeywordLuv if I remember correctly. And yes - it's a workshop format, so everyone comes prepared to learn & work (on the spot) - not buy products. I've been to a few of those types of events myself (ugh!). Hope to see you in January π
I was totally bummed to miss NAMS again. Life and its durn curveballs! Sounds like a wonderful and inspiring time was had by all. I will be excited to witness your re-energized self in the webinars, etc! π
I'm sure you're not alone - LOL. I've really been dragging the last couple of months, haha! I know all about curve balls. It would be awesome to see you in January!
Hi Lynn,
I agree with your comments about NAMS4 and enjoyed it so much that I have already signed up for NAMS5. The workshops, networking and instructors were all fantastic. Well worth the time.
Also, it was great talking to you out in the lobby during Marks presentation on Sunday evening.
Well now I'm officially busted! haha π I enjoyed it, Mike - it was great to meet you and have a chance to sit down and talk for a few. I look forward to seeing you at NAMS again in January!
This was my 2nd NAMS and it really just gets better every time. I went with 3 objectives and left with them all complete. The networking was the icing on the cake. I have set up promotions with quite a few people and look forward to NAMS 5 in Jan. Got my ticket already!
All the instructors were great, I learned so much.
I'm so glad you're coming back in January! π
That you will be teaching again at NAMS 5 is sweet music to my ears and, I'm sure to many Namsters. This was my first NAMS but certainly not my last! I've already purchased my tickets for the next one and I'll be bringing my daughter, who is also my new business partner.
Over the last year, I too had been thinking I'd get to NAMS2 or NAMS if work/family/money/pets/car/grandchildren/(fill in your excuse here) didn't get in the way and you know what? I didn't get there! This time, I took a leap of faith and just bought my ticket. It's amazing that just doing that will raise your sense of commitment. I was going, I was sure of that.
Well, things did come up, my original roommate wasn't going to come and I had to find a new roommate then... my car broke down the day before I was planning to leave! But I can tell you that even with those setbacks, I made it and you will too if you'll just set your mind to it. It may take some work to get there but it's so worth it!
Great points, Leigha. It can be hard to commit so far out, but this event always sells out early. And you can't beat the early bird pricing for tickets either. I look forward to seeing you again in a few months - it was awesome to finally meet you in person!
I was so glad to finally meet you at NAMS4! This was my first one and I already bought tickets to NAMS5. I loved the presenters, presentations, hands-on, open forum style - I got so much out of everything all weekend long.
During the advanced session you did with Nicole, I had a HUGE a-ha moment. And it wasn't a "million dollar idea" type of thing, but rather that I was focusing on trying to get clients from a niche that isn't my "ideal client." In the long run this is going to save me grief, time, and money. How often do we realize too late that maybe we were going down the wrong path? I'm glad I realized this early on.
I have no less than five projects that I came away with this weekend - it was truly inspiring. But I know that the motivation has to come from me and I will work HARD between now and Jan to reach my goals.
That's awesome, Lisa! I really enjoyed the private unrecorded mastermind session we did - that was great fun and very productive! Save that one side of the room that kicked it off with a blonde joke (or so I thought hahahaha).
I'm really glad you got clarification on that. I walked away with a lot of ideas and inspiration myself. It truly is a unique setup and something we need more of at industry events...
I'll be attending NAMS in January, thanks to Lynn's heads up. I'm so looking forward to meeting the folks that I come in virtual contact with every day and also learning from all the fine instructors there.
I think you'll really enjoy it, Liz π
I look forward to seeing you there!
Lynn, I am so grateful that I finally got to meet you at NAMS! And Angie, and all the other elite attendees. I had some terrific ideas pop into my mind during the sessions.
It was really nice to finally meet you in person, and sit down for a real face to face conversation, after all the years I've known you. π
I will also be attending in January.
Lynn, I've had the exact same thing going on this summer (re: energy/motivation) for a couple of reasons and am really bummed I had to cancel going to this NAMS at the last minute.
Reading about your experience here reconfirmed my need to get to Atlanta next time! π
We missed you there, Trish! I know how it is to need to stick close to home so I don't blame you one bit! I'm glad things turned out well, and that you're planning to come in January.
Lynn, is there a way I can get rich real fast? Like in a couple of months? I want to get there too! π
Luckily it's not an expensive event, at least not comparatively speaking! So no need to "get rich" for this one. π I would put a real number to it: ticket, flight, room, meals - and see exactly what you would need to make it happen. That will be easier to shoot for than "get rich real fast" -lol. You know what I say... "define rich, and define fast" π
NAMS4 was great. I really learned a lot and I hope to be at NAMS5
However I found something out about myself that my husband has been telling me and I thought he was fibbing.( I snore) Carol my roomie told me so.LOL
Gail
LOL! Doesn't everyone snore?! π
Hey Lynn, great meeting up with you again at NAMS4. How David will top this one at NAMS5 in January, I can't begin to imagine! What an awesome event. Anybody sitting on the fence needs to jump in now while the price is still stupidly low.
It was great to hang out with you & Roey - really enjoyed that! Are you guys planning to attend again in January??
Sounds like a killer weekend. I think the affiliate summit event has been of similar motivation to me.
I've been wanting to attend Affiliate Summit but haven't yet had an opportunity. It is always scheduled too closely with this NAMS workshop (twice a year, very close dates). I'd love to hear your top take-aways!
Hi Lynn -
So another conflict in January 2011? π
Affiliate Summit is January 9-11 in Las Vegas.
Hey Shawn,
Those are good dates! Would love to attend in January - finally π
Do you folks have a U.K. workshop equivalent?
The event is put on by David Perdew, and as far as I know there are no plans (yet - or that I have heard) to host the workshop outside of the location in Atlanta. But of course I'll let you know asap if I ever hear hint of otherwise π
Lynn,
It was great to meet you, Angie, and everyone else at NAMS4. I learned a ton and am signed up to return for NAMS5. Glad to hear that you'll be back! Also, thanks for the site review. It was very helpful for me and I hope for others also. I'm looking forward to getting the audio and seeing what I missed from the notes I was trying to write down as fast as I could!
I think everyone enjoyed that, Scott - thanks a million for putting yourself out there and letting us do a public site review! I look forward to continuing to brainstorm with you inside the private forum. Keep us posted on your ideas & progress π
This was my 2nd Nams event and it was great! I learned so much last yr but was overwhelmed. This time I know what to do with all of the information...now if i can just find the time to do it...
Time is an issue for all of us. I came home with a million ideas and tons of inspiration & motivation - but the same 24 hours in a day to work with (lol). I'm organizing my tasks, prioritizing them, and then plan to outsource as much of it as I possibly can!
Lynn, Glad I went this year to NAMS as it really opened up my daughter's eyes on what Mom really does online. I think it's even inspired her to get rolling online too with her new website http://GirlsHockeyGuide.com We both have tickets for next January (she won hers being top seller!) and hopefully we'll both be there.
I didn't get to yap at as many people at NAMS as I had planned on. Missed chatting with you too! It seemed really tight for time this year for some reason. We just got done the workshops, then dinner and I was pooped for bed! Hopefully I'll have more energy next time to network more.
Hey Lynn - I'll see you in Atlanta for NAMS5! I heard great thing about the recent conference and look forward to learning from you.
Thanks! Debba / Girlfriendology.com
Hi Lynn. So glad you'll be back at NAMS5. One of the things that bummed me out when I had to withdraw from NAMS4 was the thought of missing you. Glad you got reenergized. Looking forward to reading/hearing about the results of that in our Elite Forum π
See you in January Lynn. Looking forward to it.
any chance you will come to Sydney Australia?
This was my 2event and I learned so much I really needed the entire yr to wrap my head around the info. I can't wait for next yr! It's always great to see you Lynn!
I've never been to an affiliate marketing conference or even met another marketer in person for that matter lol.
The NAMS workshops sound like they'd be really helpful, I'm definitely going to look into attending one of them!
NAMS6 is coming up in August. Check it out here - http://NicheAffiliateMarketingSystems.com
We have a new hotel with awesome facilities that allows us to get a little bigger, but with smaller groups so the learning is even better! And it's a good thing. We're already booked with more than 200 folks for NAMS6.
There's a catch though. We're taking away the 3-payment option with the coupon code at the end of MAY - the code is "100SPECIAL" - And that code works on the first payment or the total payment. With the code applied, the price is still $297 (or 3 payments of $99 if you sign up before the end of the month).
WARNING: If we get 100 new registrants before the end of May, I'll close the doors on NAMS6.
I'm so glad Lynn is returning! Ain't she awesome π
