Amazon.com announced this morning that they are going to let their Affiliates earn commission on Amazon Gift Certificates this holiday season. The commission rate is a flat 6% whether your visitors click through your Gift Certificate link, or purchase a Gift Certificate after clicking through any other link on your site.
Since Amazon offers such a wide variety of products, their Gift Certificates are very popular. Especially among online friends, and family members who dont live close to each other. Of course Amazon.com being a household name, their site converts exceptionally well.
Based on feedback from our Associates, we have made the decision to offer referral fees on Gift Certificates. Amazon.com Gift Certificates sales are a powerful sales driver for Amazon, particularly around the holidays, and we want to offer this exciting product to our Associates.
Personally, I'd love to receive an Amazon Gift Certificate. They certainly arent just 'books' anymore. You can pick up a new sweater and some leather boots, any type of household product, electronics - you name it!
Amazon.com Gift Certificates are always the perfect gift, redeemable for millions of items on the Amazon.com Web site. They can be sent via email, an e-card or on paper through the mail. When visitors to your site want to purchase a gift for someone but are unsure exactly what to get, Amazon.com Gift Certificates are ideal.
Amazon has created a great selection of Gift Certificate promotional banners (example above) and text links, so log in to your affiliate account and set up your campaigns!

Thanks for the heads-up! I didn't know they had such nice banner ads.
I didn't even know there were Amazon gift cards available. I guess more people should promote it. I've heard a lot of great things from my friends about finding stuff on Amazon that they couldn't find other places. I'm sure anyone would appreciate a gift card for the Amazon website.
