While scanning my email last week I noticed a note from Yanik Silver about Tim Ferriss and his new book titled The 4-Hour Work Week. What caught my attention was his use of the phrase "the new rich"...
Here is an excerpt from Tim's book which explains the concept:
“Gold is getting old. The New Rich are those who abandon the deferred-life plan and create luxury lifestyles now using the currency of the New Rich: time and mobility.â€
“People don’t want to be millionaires – they want to experience what they believe only millions can buy….$1,000,000 in the bank isn’t the fantasy. The fantasy is the lifestyle of complete freedom it supposedly allows. The questions is then, How can one achieve the millionaire lifestyle of complete freedom without first having $1,000,000?â€
Yanik interviewed Tim Ferriss on "The New Rich" and has posted the recording of that call on his website. It was free to listen in live, and you can now download the recording of that interview free from Yanik's website:

Here is what you can expect from the call (taken from Yanik's email):
- How to kiss the email habit goodbye. (Tim only checks email 2x/day or sometimes not for weeks at a time if he's on one of his many getaways!)
- How to create your ultimate lifestyle NOW and not waiting until retirement. (Tim calls this "Lifestyle Design" and I promise it'll get your more excited than you've been in a long time!)
- The management secrets of remote-control CEOs. (Or the new "MBA" - management by absence.)
- Mastering the "low information" diet. Why most of us are drowning in information and what to do about it.
- Outsource your life - using "geoarbitrage" to get others to work for you at a fraction of the cost. (This is not elance.com)
- Creating automated "cash flow muses" in just 2-4 weeks to fund your new lifestyle & much more!
I am going to listen in myself, and decided to go ahead and order a copy of Tim's book from Amazon.com. I thought you might enjoy this interview as well!
The book is only $11.97 on Amazon.com: The 4-Hour Work Week.

Lynn, thank you for posting about this on your blog. I'm really interested in the call and if what I hear is really good I'll check out the book as well.
I really enjoy your blog and the advice, opinions, and resources you always bring to us. I love the newer look and your new pictures too. 😉
Thank you, Nell 😀
I received this book last week and just started reading it last night...I'm speechless. Tim definitely has a refreshing, if not hilarious, writing style and the book puts a whole new perspective on business and life management. Though the book did need one more editing, it certainly doesn't diminish the lessons. It even has a subtle spiritual undertone.
Even though I haven't finished it yet, I'd say it's worth a read if you're looking to re-evaluate your life and habits.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the book, Teli - that makes me even more anxious to get my copy! 😀
If Tim gets the national backlash he's after at least there will be lots of jobs at bunjee jump resorts!
LOL 😆 ...
