  1. Hi Lynn,

I read the report which was quite intriguing. It seems to go against-what I've been reading and researching on how to rank on Google. Have you implemented any of Leger's techniques, Lynn?

Also, I could never understand how Google, MSN, and other search engine home pages have high page rankings with no content? Makes you wonder if your really being played by Google.

    Peace,
    Maurice

  2. Anna Kindler says

Hi, my name is Anna, and I have read this book. But you see I am 4 months into starting my little on line business and don't really know the old school ideas of SEO. What little I do know, reading this book of myths has made me understand more. Thanks . Anna

Thanks Lynn. I actually received notification for this brilliant report few weeks ago. Downloaded it and like the contents. It was filled with nuggets any one can use to profits.

I suggest everyone should take a look...

  4. Thanks for the link Lynn.

Yes, it was an interesting read, but I am a little sceptical about his "proofs" as many of them are somewhat shaky. He quotes the myths in a very one-sided manner, and then analyses them in isolation, picking very specific examples to "prove" that they aren't true.

Google themselves would be the first to agree that their ratings are based on a whole slew of different factors, so to try and disprove a myth by pointing out a small number of discrepancies in that myth, whilst ignoring all of the other factors that might influence a rating is very deceptive. For example, he claims that fresh content is no better than old, and brings one example to demonstrate this, whilst carefully ignoring the fact that that one site might have other factors that give it a good rating, and the competing sites might have plenty of reasons why they aren't rated as highly. Unless he can provide an average analysis, produced by analysing millions of ratings over a very wide range of keyword searches, this result is worthless. The rest of his "proofs" are the same. Sure, he points out that the myths aren't the gospel truths that people might think, but he's a million miles away from provding that they are "undeniably false" as he claims with every one of them.

Having said that, he does make some good points. It's just a shame he seems to be as guilty of pulling the wool over people's eyes as the very gurus he condemns.

Finally, the point of the free report, he wants us to sign up for his service. At $47/month, it's not cheap, especially when you analyse his system carefully.

You probably remember the stampede to build a links directory after it was revealed to the IM world how important Google considered reciprocal links. Maybe you also wasted time, effort and money in Zeus, and struggled to build a links directory to attain the claimed high ratings. I did it, and I failed, like most people seemed to do.

Even for the few that made it work, the tactic only worked for a little while, until Google got wise. They clearly state now that reciprocal links don't benefit your ratings. It's suspected in some quarters that they may even harm your ratings, as it's obvious you're trying to buck the system.

Does he really think Google are stupid enough to fall for the same trick again, albeit via 3-way links instead of 2-way ones? Google are way ahead of him, and this tactic will go the way of reciprocal linking before very long. Google can implement code to check these sort of mutual linking arrangements far faster than he can get the links in. They already have all the data, and they certainly have the expertise to do the analysis. They have already shown themselves to be very proactive when it comes to readjusting their system based on people's methods of fooling it.

It might work for a short while, but at $47/month, I don't think it's worthwhile investment. By the time his sytem has added enough links, and Google has increased your site's rating (which doesn't happen overnight), they will have reworked their algorithms again, and this method will be another failed attempt to fool Google.

Thanks for posting the link. The report was interesting, but ultimately nothing new or exciting in my opinion.

    Ta ra
    Alan

  5. Anna Kindler says

Hey, Alan, Like I said, I've only been in the online business for about 4 months. I realize that there is a lot of confusing information and a lot of great and informative info out there in the cyber world, is that the reason the newbie marketers like me stay confused? But, I find that being confused makes me research harder and sooner or later that "light bulb" shows up. I enjoyed your imput on the SEO Myth subject and I'm sure I'll get with the program!
    Thanks,
    Anna

  6. Hi guys,

I'm also just started my online business (like Anna) and having read this information, to be honest, I'm confused. On one side, Jonathan is a very reputable online writer and online entrepreneur and on the other side, Google's team are also highly skilled people.

Anybody can chip in some input? just to clear my confusion?

  7. Jonathan Leger? I think I use to hear similar name on BBC World Service, is he the same person? But I guess I'm too late for the offer, or there still some more?

  8. I'm not sure on that, Katir - but yes, he has pulled this report off the market now.

  9. Goodboy,

Jonathon is trying something that may work for a while, but will almost certainly fall flat on its face sooner or later.

This is just a modified form of reciprocal linking, and just like Google cottoned on to that one and stopped ranking sites that used it, they will do the same here.

Any trick, no matter how clever, will only work for a while. The people at Google are very clever, and devote their lives to trying to make Google produce quality results that will be of use to real people. IM people are their enemies, as the whole point of IM is to find a way of getting your way to the top of the SE ranks, even if your site isn't really top-rating stuff. Google will always put a lot of energy into combatting IM techniques, as they want natural search results, not artificially manipulated ones.

    Hope this helps
