Free and low-cost reports are a big part of my affiliate business model, whether I'm promoting physical products or info-products. Reports are also a great addition to your model if you have your own products. People get online for information, and it's that information that ultimately converts them into buyers.
As an affiliate marketer, there are several ways you can use brandable ebooks to earn more affiliate commissions. And one of the very best (ie easiest!) ways doesn't even require you to create an ebook yourself...
Free Brandable Ebooks
Not only can you skip the whole "create a quality info-product" nightmare (or that's how most people feel about it -lol), but on top of that you get access to ebooks & reports that you can give away - at no cost to you!
You can find free brandable ebooks on almost any topic. Simply do a search on Google, or click that link to see some of Nicole Dean's downloads including ebooks on: outsourcing, link building, how to use PLR for profit, how to start a weight loss/fitness blog, and even exclusive interviews. She's constantly adding new free titles to that page, so you may want to bookmark it.
Using Free Brandable Ebooks to Earn Affiliate Commissions
A brandable - sometimes referred to as rebrandable - ebook allows you to change out a direct link to a product or service for your affiliate link. As a marketing strategy, this helps the product creator get more exposure. And if the affiliate program is theirs, it helps them make more sales when you refer new customers and earn commissions.
This works out great for you! All you have to do is download the ebook and the rebranding software (also free), and change out the links for your own. Then you can simply give away that ebook and earn commissions on any sales that are made.
You can set up a squeeze page for the free ebook and build a targeted mailing list. If you already have a mailing list, you can simply give it away as a valuable freebie to your subscribers. You can also give the rebranded ebook away as a bonus to your own products.
This is a great strategy to use - everyone loves a free download!
As an affiliate, you can also consider creating your own rebrandable ebooks. This works particularly well for 2-tier affiliate programs, or to get exposure to your blog or website. And of course if you create info products to sell, it's a great way to get affiliates on board and promoting your products for you. 😉

Best,
p.s. The Friday Feature is a weekly spotlight on people, websites, products & services. If you are interested in getting mentioned in an upcoming Friday Feature post, read this and then contact me for details.
I have had some success with this in the past. Just make sure the ebook is has quality content. There are a lot of good quality content ebooks out there so that is not a problem.
This is a great idea. I know I love these books myself and have gotten some really good info from them.
thanks!
Thanks for this post. I've had some success with this method in the past, and I have forgotten about it! I must go dig up some rebrandable books for my audience:)
Can you recommend reliable PLR ebooks about business, entrepreneurship and finance? Thanks.
Lynn, it's funny you've written this post, as I wanted to write on something very similar on my blog... viral ebooks/pdfs is how I started online, getting traffic, leads and affiliate sales back in 2003...
For 2011 I have made a commitment to myself to crank out at least one viral ebook a month in various niches, with the help of professionals / specialists (this is going to be something special, different, which I never did before, and I'm quite anxious to getting started)
I'll contact you about a potential collaboration too, stay tuned! 🙂
Viral ebooks should not be just PDfs, but the content should be turned into stand along blog posts, audios, videos, and distributed (strategically) on all the social media channels and available marketing venues... without spamming people or annoying them.
What do you guys think about it: should viral books be distributed "as is" or expanded into several files and infesting the web with? 🙂
I agree 100% with you, Codrut! Reuse the content you write in as many ways as humanly possible. Always. I always knew you were a smart marketer! 🙂
Nice to see you again!

Thank you very much, Lynn! This is just what I have been looking for as I have been trying to find valuable items to give away to build my list.
I have been thinking of trying an ebook this year. After reading your post I am going to push one out this month.
Great article. I have used rebrandable ebooks in the past and had great success giving them away free. The advertising source I used that really produced outstanding results was Ebay. Even now using Ebay classified it only cost $10 for 30 days. When you use Ebay you must follow their guidelines 100% but it does produce better results than most other advertising.
Nice post Lynn.
I just start my blog, I found a lot of idea and info from your site,
and I think I need more learning.
Excellent strategy, knowing that it's for free and it's much simpler to promote. Didn't know that there are rebrandable ebooks available out there. Though, you can't remove links directing to the creator, right?
I love brandable reports. I have several out there and like giving them away as bonuses with products. Earlier this week I had a nice surprise - a $98 affiliate commission notice for a product that I'm only promoting via a brandable report that's a bonus to my "How To Find A Hot Profitable Niche" report.
WOW that is awesome Susanne!!
Very good information, I have purchased products from Nicole before and her PLR material is very good. The re-branding ideal is something new that looks like an easy way to generate some revenue.
Finally, an informative article from other than gurus trying to shove PLR down your throat! Thank you!
I've subscribed to PLR marketing in the past, used some and branded some. But after the umpteenth million sales email I just turn the whole think off. Delete, delete, delete. Do they want me to make money, or sell me more so they can make money?
You just gave be a wealth of knowledge and answered a bunch'a questions. THANK YOU!
Hi Gibson,
Check out these posts for even more of the same:

Terry - that a great topic and so timely for me. While my question doesnt pertain to brandable ebooks it is about brandable reports that can be used as a way to make sales on products. As an affiliate for many products I am quick to use free brandable reports and share them in order to earn affiliate income but I have a question.
I am also a product creator who has affiliates and I have done all that I can to excite my affiliates to use my articles, free reports ...etc to promote the products and they dont seem to be used often. All of my rebrandable reports are listed on the Affiliate website that I created for them http://reallifeaffiliates.com/all-reports.html and I am in contact with my affiliates 1 to 2 times a month and I do my best to encourage them to use the reports in order to generate sales. What am I missing here?
Any input would be great.
Hey Aurelia, it's Nicole Dean. 🙂
Good news! I did a search for the title of your report "satisfaction for the at home mom" (I left off the "sanity &" to shorten it) and got a bunch of results in Google.
You might search for some of the other titles and connect with those affiliates directly who are using them to see if they'd like any more content.
Hope that helps!
Nicole
Nicole - that is a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion and I will do just that. It is great to know that some affiliates are in fact using the reports!
Aurelia
I have been searching for quality free or low cost brandable reports for some new niches I'm getting into. There is a lot of crap out there for sure. Thank you for yet another great resource Lynn.
Definitely a great strategy!
I am thinking about doing this for my carpet cleaning website, offering like a healthy home guide or something like that. Even building a list in this type of business is smart. Thanks for the great resource.
For the brandable Ebooks, do you allow the affiliates to change the author name from you to them?
Also do you leave your website address in the footer of the Ebook? Or would you advise one not to leave his or her website address in the footer of the Ebook so more affiliates would promote the Ebook?
What is the difference between brandable Ebooks and Master Resell Rights? I believe with Master Resell Rights you allow one to rebrand an Ebook for a fee.
Hi. Helpful post! Did I miss what the name of the free rebrandable software is called? Thanks!
Well, we learn something new every day. I've been in affiliate marketing for four years now, finally making a good income but I'd never heard of brandable Ebooks before! I shall have to spend a little more time on this subject.
Thank you for a clear and informative article, and for reminding me that I still have a lot to learn.
Hi Lynn,
I created a series of travel eBooks (mini-guides) about Asia's metropolitan cities, and I'm in the process of creating even more quality travel-related eBooks...
What I wanted to ask is "What are the best methods/ways to advertise my eBooks to potential users" ? Are there any directories where affiliates come to look for brandable eBooks and reports ? Are there any forums or blogs where I can talk about my books ? I guess that many internet marketers who try to promote a certain affiliate product/s don't even know about the possibility of using somebody's else brandable eBooks... What do you think are the best ways to convey the message to all those thousands of emarketers ?
Many thanks, Roni
