Review: SEO Rank Monitor + Google Analytics

People are always asking me about a tool or software program to help them keep track of their search engine rankings.

I don't actually use anything, so I never have a good answer. My standard response is:

"I check the top 10 results at the 3 major search engines, searching the keyword phrase I'm trying to rank for. If my page is not there- in the top 10 results - I close my browser and get back to work!"

I was talking to Saku of SEO Rank Monitor last week, and he offered to let me take his online tool for a test drive and check it out. While there are several programs and tools that let you check your rankings, this one is different because it can interact directly with your Google Analytics account...

From a review on Yoast:

...uses the Google Analytics API to combine rankings data with visitor data, showing you what the difference really is between position 1 and position 2. It's also the fastest rankings tracker I've ever seen, ranking a few dozen keywords for me in a few minutes, and then on a daily basis after that, giving some awesome ranking charts...

They offer a full feature tour of the SEO Rank Monitor dashboard, and a 30-day free trial to let you check it out before you decide to sign up for one of their two packages. The best value is the Pro Package which allows you to track up to 10 domains and 2500 keywords.

All of the tracking & ranking data is stored remotely on their server. That allows you to access it all over the world by logging in from any web browser.

What makes SEO Rank Monitor different - and better - than other SEO tools out there is the option to connect it to your Google Analytics account. You can then retrieve data about your visitors for all your tracked keywords...

In addition to tracking your own keywords and campaigns, the dashboard also includes a Competitor Monitor which allows you to keep up with the success of your competition. Or easily find keywords with little or no competition.

All of the stats and data are laid out nicely in visual, easy-to-read charts & graphs with the option to export into other formats.

I took Saku up on the offer to give it a test drive, and logged in to one of his accounts. At a glance I could see where keyword phrases were ranking across Google, Yahoo and Bing. I could also tell which keyword phrases were moving in the SERPs. Specifically which terms were moving up in the results, and which phrases were moving down.

The charts load quite fast, and it's very easy to navigate.

Inside the Analytics Monitor, it gives you a Keyword Value. You can look over this chart and see where you rank for various keyword phrases - and the Keyword Value tells you the number of click through's you can expect with a number one ranking for each of those keywords.

Definitely cool, and a tool I'll be checking out more. Give it a test drive with their 30-day trial and let me know what you think!

Looks pretty useful if you have a lot of websites and keywords that to keep track of. Not sure if the value is worth it over free programs like 'Rank Checker'. Homepage link is broken att.

  2. I tried to check the site too and the link is broken. I would really like to see what this has to offer that some of the free monitors don't, except the interfacing to Google Analytics.

  3. I use SheerSEO and so far I've been quite happy with the features and the price. Although the one feature I find missing is generating PDF reports. I do some SEO work for some businesses and this is something that they want to see most of the time. SEO rank monitor doesn't seem to have that. Would definitely be interested if such a feature was introduced.

  4. Wow that is some serious competition for market samurai.
I've had market sam for a while, but since it's not hosted online, I hardly ever use it.

  5. An interesting post, I may have to try this out for myself. If it does all that you say then it could be a really valuable tool.

This can really help webmasters to seriously monitor their SEO ranking. Well, other businesses might find this one interesting to easily monitor the ranking.

  8. Thanks for sharing SEO ranking Lynn.
Now I knew the what is it and an interesting post too

I use Rank Checker (from seobook) and Google Analytics. They are both free and so far have done all I want. I often wondered weather to get a new tool but have allways skipped it.

  10. Anyway it scans whoever proceeds onto your site and immediately places it into your free analytics account listing where people come from, such as whether they arrive at your site from a link. And other helpful stuff such as where they quit your site, or which pages they examined most etc.

  11. Thanks for your impressions, I'm going to have to check that out. People have been mentioning other programs, so I'll chime in that I have been using Micro Niche Finder and I like it. Though I have used the trial of market samurai and it's pretty good too. Seems like most of these tools will work, it's just important to find one you like and learn how to use it effectively.

  12. Well, that's a pretty interesting tool. Bookmarking that for later reference. I like that it monitors if you've climbed or dropped in the serps for a keyword. Trying to decide if it would save me time for checking on things or if I would spent more time staring at all the pretty charts and graphs since they are done for me! It might be a wash...

  13. Thanks Lynn, I also use rank checker to check my rankings but always good for another tool

  14. but no free version is available as they said in post.

  15. I always use Google Analytics to track my visits, i have never heard of SEO Rank Monitor, thanks for this useful review.

  16. I use google analytics and statpress plugin for wordpress. for me both are useful. Google analytics provide accurate data and detailed report about visitors. while statpress gives extra information about spiders and they notify instant about last visitors and their activities.

  17. I wanted to check it out for a long time and yestarday I did it. I used Advanced Web Ranking before, so later I'll do some researches and i'll write my opinion later. I have been using it for 1 day and till now I'm totally satisfied.

  18. The offer above to try it for free is no longer available - you should remove the link. when you click thru you are only given the choice to buy it.

    Thought you should know
