What Adsense products would you promote?
I would (and do) promote Joel Comm's Adsense Guide. It is very thorough and helpful and comes with some great bonuses to boot (case study report, etc). You can see my review here. I also really liked William Charlwoods Definitive Guide to Adsense. This was the first manual that I read, and I found it to be exceptional material.

Should I consider using Adsense Portals?
Considering all of the time you would need to spend customizing, optimizing and marketing this so that it actually earns money... you could develop something unique in that same amount of time.

I am wondering why my eCMP has gone down.
According to Scott Boulch, Smart Pricing is what happened. Basically, advertisers at Adwords were given the option to choose different amounts to pay in search results than on content sites (Adsense), so they bid much lower for those clicks - still paying the higher rates for their ads on search results pages.

Are there any viable Adsense alternatives?
Besides YPN (Yahoo Publisher Network), which is a great alternative, I see alot of people using Chitika. You might also look into FastClick - which is at ValueClick.com. You could also consider promoting pay-per-sale affiliate programs that are a match for your site...

When to use Google Adsense?
You have to ask yourself: What is my main objective? If it's to make product sales, you dont want to distract your potential buyers with links to competing sites. Adsense is usually better served on content based sites...
