Sometimes when I talk about personal branding with my peers they’ll get an awkward look on their face and say something like “personal branding, what is that?” You see, we are conditioned to the word “branding”; however “personal branding” seems foreign to many people.
Did you know you are personally branding yourself every day?
It’s true. But allow me to digress for a moment. First, let me give you a definition for personal branding...
Personal branding describes the process by which individuals and entrepreneurs differentiate themselves and stand out from a crowd by identifying and articulating their USP (Unique Selling Proposition), and then leveraging it across platforms with a consistent message and image to achieve a specific goal.
Your "personal brand" is what people think about you when you leave the room.
If you post on Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, Google+ or any other social networking site, then you are building your personal brand literally every day.
But is your personal brand congruent with who you really are?
Is your personal brand helping you succeed in your career?
And is your personal brand one that attracts the kind people you want to work with?
If your answer was NO or I DON’T KNOW to any or all three of the questions I asked, don’t worry. I’m here to help...
Enter Personal Branding for the 21st Century Entrepreneur.

- And more…
Personal Branding for the 21st Century Entrepreneur has around 4 hours of valuable personal branding content with transcripts of all the calls so you can take notes while you listen. And yes, it’s an MP3 download so you can play it on your MP3 player. (Besides, who uses CD’s anymore anyway?)
Susan Chritton, one of the experts I interviewed and author of Personal Branding for Dummies has this to say about personal branding:
“Personal branding is about deciding to take an active role in the direction of your life. You benefit from creating a personal brand because it allows you to self-manage your life and stop depending on others to do it for you. Your personal brand helps you make the most of what you’ve got to offer.”
After talking with her I realized I had to take immediate action to correct some of the wrongs I was doing online with social media so I could increase my online sales.
And now it’s time for YOU to take immediate action.

I agreed branding is powerful, and can work wonders. But do we really need a course to talk about branding? Is it that important? Most of the marketers nowadays are using their personal name as a brand. Unless it's huge, I think I'll stick to my own creativity.
Thank you for your comment, and I appreciate your candor. However, you are talking about “branding”. Branding is what big dumb corporations do when they buy millions of dollars’ worth of advertising a year just to keep their name on the top of your mind.
Those “branding” commercials and advertisements are not geared to sell anything, per se and they certainly are not trackable. (Example, do you think Coke knows exactly how many bottles of soda they sold because of the commercial that aired at 3:13 p.m. on Friday? No…they do not)
However, my product teaches Personal Branding. Your “personal brand” can influence how potential clients, employees and key decision makers perceive you. Once you develop a personal brand, it can transform the marketing and growth of your business.
One can use their “personal name” as a brand, but unless you’re a rock star, star athlete or movie star, then your “personal name” won’t accomplish diddly squat for you.
I’ll use Lynn Terry as an example here. If you go into the grocery store in the average small town America and say “Have you heard of Lynn Terry?” The average response you’ll get is “huh, who?”
BUT
If you go to nearly any internet marketing or blogging conference and ask “Have you heard of Lynn Terry?” You’ll get a very different response. Something along the lines of “yea, she’s that wicked awesome blogger mom/internet marketer. Sure I’ve heard of her. Why do you ask?”
Lynn Terry’s name means something in the internet marketing world because she has positioned herself properly. And she had a definite plan to do so. She created her own success. The same goes with personal branding.
Basically, if you don’t create your “Personal Brand”, then somebody else will create it for you. So if you already know:
• the 10 things you can do every day to get an endless stream of clients
• the step-by-step process for discovering your own brand
• how to use your personal brand to grow your business and grow your income
• how to create an online and offline presence for career protection and self-promotion
• and wicked awesome resume writing techniques…
Then no, you won’t need a course on personal branding. But if you are not the leader in your market/chosen field, if YOU are not the go to person in your industry and if YOU don’t have a definite plan for success, then YES, you do need a course on personal branding.
The experts in Personal Branding for the 21st Century Entrepreneur will take you step-by-step in how to build and use your personal brand to grow your business and grow your income.
Thanks again for the comment.
Cheers!
